Hey everyone! I have a new HUD design for you to take a peek at! What do you think? It leans more on the Monster Hunter side of the project, but judging on what I've experienced in MD, they don't seem to make up their mind very much, so I think this works! ^vv^ The old HUD did feel nostalgiac because it imitated PMD Explorers, but I think this will fit the game more! ^vv^ (you can see the old HUD here for reference!)
Some fun facts about it:
- Instead of a floor timer, the locale itself has a timer. It counts in steps, not time (Normally this is 6000 steps for the entire clock (but quests can limit it)) this will vary depending on the length/complexity of the dungeon, but you can see exact amounts in the pause menu in the new lower menu! (Will show soon ^vv^)
- The yellow bar is the belly/stamina bar, eating on a quest or expedition is important to not passing out from hunger! This will slowly drain over the quest, but eating things like berries and other consumables can restore stamina (I have no current intentions on penalizing hunger when you push allies or swim/fly over terrain, right now consider it just a passive mechanic)
-The clock art color depends on your kinship color
What do you think? I hope it's an improvement over how it looked before!
Finally, I'm also planning on hosting another YCH on tuesday (the 26th), I haven't done one since october so I hope you'll enjoy a more chill one! ^vv^ Your support is always appreciated, though not required, so no pressure! ^vv^
Anyway, I'll keep workin'! Have a great weekend! ^vv^/

I love this new look, and I hope the bar still dynamically updates based on your max HP, too!
I remember in the games eating while your belly was full increased its capacity, but it felt like such a small gain for something that wasn't permanent. How do you plan to handle that mechanic?

I really want the bars to grow as you get more HP/Stam (so it might start off smaller than it is here)! Although it would be funny to pull a PMD explorers and let your HP bar go way off the screen I'll probably have to limit it to a maximum size lol
The belly mechanic in md games has always felt weird to be.. like... does it need to be there? (In early PMD anyway, in Shiren it makes total sense) For now since nothing will drain it any faster than the normal rate, it's just a way to keep you in check making you use consumables every so often and making sure you don't stay in one place too long- I don't expect most people to even run into it running out any time soon. As for growing the maximum, I might let you eat while full to raise it for the current outing, but the maximum stamina is almost definitely gunna be determined by eating a meal before you leave for an adventure, just in in MH! >vv<
Also thank you! ^vv^
