Part 1 - Conception

This story begins on Planet Hetrocera, a planet which - apart from its oceans - is filled with giant flowers and other way oversized plants as big as Earthian buildings, with trees reaching all the way into the sky, flower meadows that are several kilometers wide due to the sheer size of the flowers themselves. This beautiful nature-filled planet is inhabited by human-sized anthropomorphic moths of various kinds, building their living spaces as houses on top of the flowers or simply right inside the massive trunks of the trees. Some of the anthro moths here wear clothing while others don't, though the nudity of about half of them doesn't mean their private parts are visible. It is most certainly a peaceful planet. Well, might be a nightmare for those with a pollen allergy though. Now, let's look into one of the cozy looking houses in one of this planet's villages.

Aethra, her species being of the brightly colored pink and yellow Rosy Maple Moth, having blue eyes and wearing a dress with a wave pattern on it to correlate it with oceans, watches her egg with great anticipation. She just noticed a crack forming in its shell after all. So it must be time. If only her husband would be here to witness the beginning of their daughter's life too. Nonetheless, despite that bittersweet aspect, Aethra feels happy about what's happening now. More cracks in the shell form before the living being inside of it finally breaks out of it. Aethra looks at the newly hatched baby moth - the moth life cycle has evidently evolved to be different on this planet - who at first just rubs her own blue eyes from how much brighter things are outside of the now broken egg shell. "Welcome to life, Dione.", the mother tells her daughter, watching with joy as the little one takes in her surroundings. Aethra feels indescribably happy to see her child all young and healthy, to the point of crying tears of joy, as she then holds the newly hatched baby anthro moth in her arms, holding her close and letting her know: "My dear everything... You don't even understand yet, how much you mean to me, heh. But I will be there for you, no matter what comes, my precious little Dione. I promise that."

Dione ends up being one of the anthro moths on her planet who do wear clothes, showing a preference for dresses of various colors already as a young child, reflecting how she is a quite chaste type of person, something that will only become more evident when she gets older and still behaves and dresses like this, but that's then. Her cute little dresses come in various colors as she happily tries on new ones too. She is innocent and still unaffected by what difficulties the universe can bring someone, still oblivious to all the challenges of life. Seeing her happy easily brings a smile on Aethra's face too who deeply hopes for her daughter to never part ways with her.

It doesn't take long until Dione makes her first friend, a fellow Rosy Maple Moth named Coeus who has a purple eye color and is the same young age as her and hasn't seen a good enough reason to be among the clothing wearing half of Hetrocera's inhabitants yet. Nonetheless, he can compliment this new friend: "Woah, that's such a pretty dress!" "Thank you!", Dione appreciates that cutely, "My mother made it for me." "She's good at that!", Coeus can acknowledge this, "I'm Coeus. My parents are always at work... but I can take care of myself just fine, so it's okay!" "I can't let you be all alone... So uhhh wanna be friends, Coeus?" "Sure!", he gladly accepts this offer, "You... You still haven't told me your name, haha!" "Oh!", Dione realizes that too now, "It's Dione. My name is Dione. Wanna play something?" "Gladly.", the young Coeus also happily agrees to this before suggesting: "I'm trying to program a quantum physics correlated simulation at home right now, we could try to figure that out together!" But... expectedly, considering the young age, Dione just looks confused, absolutely clueless about what he just said, so the extremely intelligent little boy changes his mind: "Oooor we could uhh.... what do you usually play with? Dolls? Video games? Hahah, I have no idea, you just lead the way, okay?", showing readiness for whatever Dione can think of. The two of them become friends since early childhood, since this encounter, which is a reason why they are becoming such close friends to each other as their friendship goes on.

While looking at the view on Planet Hetrocera's ocean, Dione gets noticed by another child of the same age. While it's an anthropomorphic fish, it still kinda fits to be an intelligent species on this planet, as it's a brick seamoth specifically. Dione looks to her, noting: "You don't like like an insect... What are you?" "I'm... a moth just like you. A seamoth.", the more aquatic child jokes with a soft-spoken voice before properly introducing herself: "My name is Higeki. You're... from one of the flower villages, aren't you?" Dione nods to that before telling Higeki her name as well. "You like the view here?...", Higeki wonders, "Oceans are fascinating and sooooo big. I live at a house not far from here, right at the beach." "Hehe, well, then I know roughly where to look for you from now on.", Dione concludes, "That is, if you wanna be friends." "Sure, I'd love to. I like you already." "You only just met me, haha!", Dione finds amusement in that but doesn't mind it at all. Though the anthro seamoth is convinced: "Sometimes... you just know that you'll get along great with someone. Sometimes you just know when a friendship lasts for life." The two girls gladly keep meeting each other here within the next few weeks, showing what a lovely friendship quickly grows from this too.

While playing some card game with her friend Coeus, Dione decides to ask him: "So, Coeus... what do you wanna be when you grow up?" "A scientist, for sure!", he is already very certain of this, "I think I like biology the most, but all of the scientific fields feel really interesting to me." "Hehehe, of course.", Dione realizes she should have expected as much from someone this intelligent, before Coeus then turns the question to her: "How about you, Dione? What are you gonna be?" "I'm not sure yet...", Dione admits, "But! I do know what I want my life to be other than my job." "Oh, do tell me more.", the little moth boy states while continuing to play the card game with her, so that his female friend lets him know her plans: "It all begins... with me hatching, of course! Then I simply want to enjoy my childhood and when I becomes a teen, I'll fall in love for the first time, so that when I am an adult, I can get married, just like my mommy, and then I'll be a mommy myself! Then uh... getting old with my husband or wife and uhh... oh yeah, not dying alone! Having the love of my life by my side." "Woah, you really think far ahead.", Coeus remarks on this, "But hey, you know what? I hereby promise you that I'll make sure you won't die alone either way. And promises can't get broken, so you know I mean it!" "Awww, thank you!", Dione appreciates this, "Best friends for life, yay!"
