For my final in my Intro to Watercolour class, which i juuuust finished, we were allowed to paint anything we wanted.
Originally, I was going to paint an image
sporbitz mentioned wanting, but i got bored and distracted from that idea, and wound up with this instead.
Spor had told me about the flocks of seagulls that mob the back end of the freighter ships, due to the ship's propeller chopping up fish in the great lakes...
Spor also told me about the tons and tons of leftover materials that the shipping companies just dump into the water once they have unloaded their cargo on shore. Literal tons of salt, coal, iron ore, gravel, etc. that get dumped into our freshwater ecosystem every year, by every ship...makes me sad. Made this giant seagull angry! That ship had better get sailing; Karma comes for you! ..mostly it just wants the bloody fish bits though XD

Thanks again for the awesome pic. :D I got it set to desktop on our ship's computer.
Sadly that's how it is out here though. I mean it's not like you can dump crap anywhere you want, 14.7 miles offshore is what I think the minimum distance you have to be for running off cargo (some areas are protected from this of course) and anything other than cargo (like garbage or even food) is illegal to throw over the side at all.
On the bright side we maintain the seagull population of most cities on the great lakes!

Bleh, i can't stand to work in digital hardly at all anymore; give me something to manipulate with my fingers and tools. I have such a volume of real media supplies that i feel silly ignoring them all to spend hours staring at a computer screen painting pixels that wont really exist. I prefer an oil painting i can get all over my hands to clean computer and tablet XP I know wonderful things can be made on a computer, but typically you'll just see traditional media from me ^^
