Oh that so brings back memories of my school days. There was always a few running late, and she reminds me of this redhead I had such a crush on in my last year of High School. That would be 1967 for those of you keeping score.
Beautiful, absolutely beautiful work.

Most gel pens are both acid free and pigmented now-a-days (at least the big brands). The main difference between ballpoint, liquid and gel is the carrier. Ballpoint is usually oil based, gel is water based and liquid is usually solvent based.
Very cute picture BTW :)
Oh and didja get a chance to try out that paper I gave you?

Having been in similar situations (minus the schoolgirl outfit, seeing as a) I'm not female, and b) I've never gone to a school with a uniform code if one doesn't count USN schooling), it's not as much a matter as filling one's stomach as putting something in it to keep the rumbling to a minimum until the lunch break.
I really like the pic, the cute expression with the frantic eyes just screaming 'i'm late' really comes across well for the image. The whole scene reminds me of a typical teenage girl in many Japanese animations I used to watch. Was this intentional?
Though on a side note she kinda looks like Kaname Chidori from Full Metal Panic to me. Kinda weird. Oh well.

It was very intentional =). I was tasked with doing art for a convention with the theme 'ages of japan' - and this being a classic anime trope (and one I think is way cute), I had to use it for one of my pieces =).
She isn't based on any actual character, but I was mostly inspired by K-On in terms of character design and uniform.
