How hard are they to take care of?

There not easy to look after, 1) They can eat through anything, cables, walls, plastic you name it 2) life span is up to 20 years, so there a commitment... They take a lot of time to bond with and trust..... Plus side there a lot of fun and rather cute, literaly they will bounce of walls and ping round the house/apartment which is a lot of fun to watch.... Also they really dont like heat and need cool conditions and can collapse,,,,, But i love mine ^^ Harvy & Ted lol

Well if I do ever decide to get one I think I'll look for a breeder... I need to live in a different freakin state(want to get out of here anyway) Wondering about the dust bath stuff and food wise. Alright anywho thank you for sharing the cute pictures of your chinchillas :D

You’re welcome...You can get complete food mix which is good for their teeth; basically they have a high protein lo fat/sugar diet.... But love the odd piece of dried fruit as a treat, especially sultanas and raisins XD I give them apple wood to keep their teeth warn down... Dust bathing is so much fun, maybe I’ll video them ^^ they even try and fit their head in the cup when im filling the bath up which is pretty durp lol

And different state? are they illegal or something where ya currently live...

Nah just gets too bloody freaking hot here I wouldn't want to put them through this weather.

Especially considering I can't stand hot and don't do well in it.
