Experimental, ambient soundscape... not really a song...
"You wake up with a headache... your senses are dulled and only slowly they are returning.. one by one. Almost as if you fell down a large height and only barely survied.... as your sense of balance returns and your vision clears, you find yoursef lieing on hard, rocky floor... a cold wind blows from somehere... you can't see... it's dark... very dark... it must be some kind of cave... a pretty enormous cave at that... you spend a few more seconds just staring upwards into a small, faint spot of light, surrounded by total blackness... trying as you might, you can't even make out the ceiling... a low, very deep rumble runs through the ground in even waves... it sounds like a beating heart far in the distance... a very.. large heart...
the fading dizzyness finally allows you to sit up... in the far distance, a faint orange/red glow illuminates what seems to be a huge tunnel... the floor feels cold and lifeless... where the hell are you? What is this place and more importantly, how did you get here?
Getting up on your still shaky feet you dust yourself off and look around...
blackness, everywhere.. no walls... no features.. nothing... just enternal blackness and that one, faintly lit tunnel in the far distance....
the spot where you apparently "landed" is illuminated by a faint, white glow coming from directly above... the source of the light must be miles above you, judging from the impossibly long cone of light... it shouldn't even be possible to shine down that far...
Listening to the monotonous deep rumble coming from somewhere far away you can make out another sound, oddly in sync with the beating... it almost sounds like a grandfathers clock... a very large one....
The cold wind blows constantly... and it carries a faint, yet distinct smell which you can't define as anything else but *death*. You're not quite sure how you came to that conclusion, but you are pretty sure that if death had a smell.. this would be it...
Growing uneasy, standing in the middle of nowhere in absolute darkness your feet automatically start directing you towards the only destination... that tunnel... you are not very keen on venturing into utter darkness, possibly to find out where that smell comes from... so you have no objection against yor leg's suggestion of direction, the cold wind in your back driving you onwards.
After what must have been a thirty minute walk the wide entrace of the tunnel opens up before you.. when you suddenly stop dead in your tracks... a sound, which must have come from miles away managed to freee your blood solid in the blink of an eye... it was a scream.. or, more precisely the echos that where left of it after the long travel... you consider turning back for a moment, but looking over your shoulder, into that blackness, what choice did you have?
Your own heart, which had beat along that rumbling sound with almost perfect synch picks up it's pace... it takes you a few long moments to convice your legs to move again.. but something in the back of your head starts to tell you that it would be wise to get moving.. out of that darkness... quickly...
As you move further into the dimly lit tunnel, where the light exactly does come from is a mystery to you.. it seems like the walls itself are giving off the light without being lit up *themselves*, you notice the air growing more warm and humid with each step... also the floor seems to become more and more.. *spongy* under your feet. In fact, you haven't been walking on that gray, rocky floor for quite some time anymore you realize. You also notice that the huge "tick"..."tock"... sound seems to be gone... and as you think about it, it probably was for a few minutes already before another distant scream's echo rips you out of your thoughts and petrifies your body's every joint for a few seconds....
"tick"...."tock"....."tick"..."Tock".....
There is the sound again... and, it's back in perfect synch with the massive beating....
where on earth is this place...
where on earth..
where...

Excellent! It really fit the description, and vice versa. I was kind of hoping for a resolution at the end, though.
Also, I was lucky enough to read it pretty well in sync with the script, the sounds running out when the text did. The uneasy feeling I had while listening and reading was the same as the dread I felt while playing Resident Evil (the remake on Gamecube, anyway), or Resident Evil Zero.
I've always wanted to try to dabble in matching songs with the stories I write. I suppose I wanted people to listen to some of your tracks while they read that mini-story I wrote that featured you. You know, the one about that club, 'The Tank'? But it wasn't anything specific.
The problem is that the music can never be guaranteed to sync with any precision unless you narrate it as well, making it into an audiobook with a soundtrack. :P Ah well!
