Quittin' Shift

Moss just getting out of work from the mechanic's shop. Walking towards the back he lights a smoke and unbuttons the blue work shirt shirt from his sweaty form. The humidity was high today and he had spent the day cleaning and welding parts together. The project was not finished but he knew that his boss would come in and complete it long before his next shift. That was the way things worked in the shop, the work was ever-moving.
Stepping passed the newest employee Moss pulls the still-lit cigarette from between his teeth as he heads for the exit. "Have a good shift, newbie." He says before flicking the cherry into a bucket of diesel and watching the new kid scramble for a second before the glowing embers were waterlogged and went dead. It was a fun trick that always got the new kids to move quickly for a second. It also lets someone know how familiar the person is with the difference between diesel and gasoline.
