The female member of the Ninja Turtles I only saw once, when I saw the cross-over episode with Power Rangers. My only thought at the time was "I hope that's a girl in that costume making all those girlie movements..." While the suit itself wasn't all that attractive, the concept has it's charms, and some sweet femininity showed through the karate kicks and such so I suppose it was inevitable that sooner or later I might try my hand at Venus -even if my version here isn't an exact likeness to the 'real' thing. The Turtles' concert tour established that they can remove their shells, something which I fully exploited in my other drawings of the character. This one was my first sketch, though, and no doubt is the best place to start. More to come, so stay tuned.

As I hear it, on the live-action show they changed the brothers so they weren't blood relations. This allowed them to open the door for romantic interest with Venus, revealed to be the long-lost fifth turtle exposed to the mutagenic ooze at the same time the boys were created. Venus had been adopted by a martial arts master living in Chinatown, explaining why she could hold her own with the boys when she finally caught up to them. It was one of the boys who named her Venus De Milo as a bit of a joke, but the name stuck. (So I hear it, anyway. I've never actually seen the show itself...)
