I don't ever do this but I have reached the point where I need to get my words across after some recent discoveries, so here we go...
AI ART IS THEFT!
I have NEVER and will NEVER give permission for people to use my art to train AI.
Just yesterday I discovered an AI with around 200 downloads that can blatantly imitate my style. I never gave permission and yet they have the audacity to thank me in the description...It isn't "research", its stealing!
AI Art Bros will try and hide behind their excuses claiming "its just a tool", "you're just mad someone else can make better art than you", etc., etc. etc...
It doesn't hide them from the fact that they are stealing art to train a computer to make it replicate other peoples work. "It took me 8 hours of prompt writing to finally get a good pic" is another way of saying I spent 30 mins copying and pasting an artist's gallery and expecting to get away with it. We all know AI doesn't create, it copies off what it has been fed to it.
AI Art is lazy, low effort and off-putting. Prompt Writers think they can be sneaky but its obvious to the average person. What AI Art does is that it piggy backs off the work other people have done. I have spent years practicing and countless hours on a single piece all for it to be stolen and used by someone else.
We have already seen examples of it but re-painting or tracing AI art doesn't make it yours. The point of Aeromorphs is that they imitate real life aircraft, not a cluttered mess of wings and canopies.
As well as being a rant, this is to get my point across to make people aware that I will not endorse AI art or my work being stolen.
And now with that done, and since I probably wont get the opportunity to do this again...
I have seen some pretty laughable attempts of people stealing my Aeros through tracing, cropping, recolouring, etc. Let me be clear, you are not fooling anyone!

I can't NOT see it. It's everywhere. Not only that but deviantART is actively ENCOURAGING people to use it.
Other companies like Adobe, Grammarly, etc. are so insultingly bold with their advertising of this crap that all their adds now are just "Type a prompt and bo0om, instant art/content/essay/e-mail for work, and everyone will love you! You'll be rich!" I'm not even kidding, no subtly what-so-ever.
What's even scarier is how it's being used to commit fraud and spread disinformation by creating images of real places and people in scenarios that never happened, and people are believing it. Most of the time the fakes can be spotted by keen-eyes due to how A.I. messes up hands and feet but it won't be long before they start passing those bars too, and it will become impossible to discern fiction from reality. we'll all be trapped in The Matrix.
Kyle Hill made a great video breaking down just how big an existential threat to civilization this is. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JrcbH0ge2WE&pp=ygUJa3lsZSBoaWxs

Oh they won't just ask. It'll become so integrated into society that it will literally be impossible to avoid. It kinda already is. Every picture ever taken, every word ever written, every bit of knowledge and data ever collected in all of human history is accessible to A.I., and A.I. has already regurgitated more "content" than all of it combined. Some A.I.s can ever create new, better A.I.s. That's why it's called "generative A.I."
There needs to be laws against this. In traditional terms, the amount of Copyright Laws and legislatures that AI "art" violates is unbelievable. British copyright law would classify normal tracing as copyright/IP infringement and you'd be subsequent to pretty hefty penalties here for it. Why is it not the same for AI generated shit? It's the exact same premise of copyright infringement and theft of intellectual property. I hate this shit man. Fuck AI generation
While I am all for AI-Assisted art (Art where you have an AI doing things like colouring in the rest of your image or giving you a Background while you focus on drawing the relevant character), AI art that uses other artist's drawings as the basis is definately theft.
I mean, it isn't even "AI Art", it is basically just "AI copy paste and recolor of someone else's art", because that is what it is.
If they truly wanted to make an AI Learn to do art, they should have started from the most baseline concept: nature and architechture... But let's face it, they don't want that. They just want to copy artists who are actually better than them.

The fact that AI "art" Bros complain about people "stealing their prompts" is so pathetic that they don't even see their own b******* that they're doing.
I have zero respect for people who use AI generated crap instead of actually picking up a pencil. Same with that AI 60 frame interpolation garbage for animation "remastering".
It's an insult and a slap in the face to artists.

it's a problem of readily-made convenience being exploited and laziness. People seem to have no qualm to sit down, learn a skill, and make great art on their own skill and volition with their own style and such. Technology is our own bane that we've developed so far.
I'm a former concept artist...soo I dont really see a big deal here actually Ai Art! Art & how it's created, changes or evolves is something that we cant control just as much as we can't control how the world or how our future will take shape. Also art theft isnt as prevalent as it used to be especially during the early 2000s & late 2010s...
It doesnt bother me, besides much of my old art was concept art of Sci-Fi Rifles ...their might be a few pieces of my old art floating around after conceptart org shut down...but if my pieces were fed to an Ai I wouldnt mind at all...as they'd be refined an made even better or even modified which I truly dont mind.
even though i have used ai sometimes i agree for when someone try to steal someone else art style or copy i see in streams or chats spending many hours or even days to draw a character or multiple characters yes it may gave few positive for example landscapes or random npc characters for quick stories but still that does not excuse if someone use it to steal someone else work and credits so it should least to put a limit to where have to be use
btw i like your work and renthedragon's work keep it strong

What I can say there is the line. You may have original artist works, but only when you just use it for pure entertainment of yourself. But when you post AI image and say that this is you made or trying to sell it which is even worse that sucks. But I don't understand people that screams when see a model that trained on their original works, that why no one asks artists permission they always against this, then second question why someone should ask permission when they just can generate hundreds of images in their basement. Also no one gonna do the copyright laws on porn images even if they are aircraft, especially on international platform and programs in public domain.
Also you forget the number #1 rule of the internet once you post here something it stays here, you made art/music, anything you post here, it automatically became public. It's not a shop when you enter the artists shop see blurry image and pays 10$ for one image just to see it(also interesing idea)
I mean what did you expect, just point on someone who uses this AI and post your art as it made himself. Maybe it's just me outdated but i didn't see much AI aeromorph art with your style instead those website with ai crap.

Late reply here, but I completely agree with you, I have also stated my concerns before in a post.
I do not think that AI in art is useful in ANY way.
Reference or inspiration? No, why use something that has anatomy and lighting errors, details make no sense, when you could just use real images or already existing art. I cannot believe there isn't something out there already that could be used for those purposes.
Speeding up the process? I really don't see why I would want something else to make the piece for me, I personally like to know that I have made a piece 'with my own hands', and isn't the process fun?
Really I could go on, but AI comes down to either lazy and impatient people who wants 'the pretty images' now, wanting to skip the process, the learning, the practising. Or who just want to scam people and make money by being an 'AI artist'.
If you were to trace over other people's art, you would still be called out for plagiarism, but even then you would at least put effort to make the piece, what AI does is it traces other people's art for you.
Just because you can do something, doesn't mean you should. Or if you do, don't be surprised that people you steal from will not be amused.

I know this is a Hot Take but I'd rather see someone trace art as a copy then use AI. I know, I know, hear me out. If someone traces, atleast they are getting in some time drawing they are putting in work and maybe at some point they will use that to make their own works. Tracing a person can gain something, AI doesn't gain the person any skills and they gain nothing.
