...I get the feeling that Nigel getting his hands on a stick would reawaken some thought to be lost skills he had picked up back under his parents.
Then again, the ones we saw him do on-panel as a kid were Sword and Board techniques, that is, Sword and Shield techniques, so unless he was taught off-panel how to use a Spear along with a shield, Which is pretty much a Staff with a Sharp point or blade at one end, Nigel will have to try and guess how to use it as a weapon.
Either way, I feel that Nigel should be a little more than just "The Load". I mean, some of his snark does have good points, especially when Idealism becomes more of a Flaw than a merit (Which is dependant on the situation)... So I wonder how he would handle a stick?

Yep, something I also realized as to why burying the bodies was important is because like others have said, the chaos creatures are still there, including the chaos infection is still on those corpses. if random animals eat them and or if anyone come across the corpses and touches them then those animal and people will get infected and spread the chaos off screen without the main cast even knowing about it. So yeah, they really should've done something about those corpses. Not just to honor the dead, but to also prevent anymore of the chaos spreading.
I don't think bruises so much as just nasty gunk-splatter, the same as on Leo's axe. But from earlier pages, it seems like just getting some splatter won't be enough to cause problems. One seemed to suggest that you'd have to be bitten or otherwise injured for it to infect you with this Chaos heresy. The Guardian early in the comic had to be pretty much impaled by the Wossname-skull-face and was forcibly infected.
But when it comes to Chaos heresy, there are many dangers.
