This be a Poem written by me for a poetry contest at a college not too far from me. Friend of mine from work invited me. I procrastinated and ended up having to spit this out of my mind the day before it (and about 2 hours BEFORE the actual thing xD) I kinda like it, but it feels like something's missing. Probably because it was a little rushed. Hope you all enjoy it and take what you need from it!

The human mind is an interesting place. A place that is very dangerous to go.

If you don’t agree, then I’ll prove it to you, and by the end of this poem you’ll surely know.

How about to start we discuss confusion, the state we go in when we don’t understand.

So much confusion we find in life, some things we explore while others we reprimand.

See; take fear for example, a confusing response to a simple situation.

We let it take us over entirely, not as one being, but as one nation.

I say this because fear in one person affects another. Then that person’s fear, someone else.

Eventually, people are afraid to help others, or sometimes, even themselves.

How many of you confront the fears you have? And push them out until you feel them no more?

Now how many of you failed when you tried, falling into the same fear you had once before?

See my purpose here is not to rhyme, but to open and intertwine the minds of the kinds of people who want to listen to the flow and let it go like a river, into the oceans of their lives

To let this current sweep those too scared to speak into speaking again and give them a friend who UNDERSTANDS, what they’re going through.

I know you’re hiding something, we all are, I am. But don’t let it hold you back now.

Just approach it and know why it is, so when it appears, you’ve learned to accept it because now you know how.

Be strong with yourself, don’t fall back when it comes to happiness, because otherwise what will you be?

Don’t just listen to the words I’m saying, put them in effect. Because they’ve worked for ME.

It’s hard to tell where we’re going in life... Doesn’t mean we should stop were we are.

Keep trying until you get a result, after all, how is it you got this far?

Don’t give in to human thinking and feel that nothing matters unless it happens to you.

Reach out and help someone sometime. Hopefully they catch on, and help more people too.

But as of now we’re selfish and scared, because we don’t know who’s who and what’s what.

Trust has been missing for way too long, and the world we knew, it seems we’ve forgot.

So wake up and look around you, there’s so much here we just don’t get.

We need to pull together and lend a hand to each other, because we’re failing as a species, if you haven’t noticed it yet.

Because the human mind is now crude and selfish, DON’T let that happen to you.

I know that with caring and feeling, we could someday pull the human race through.
