Bio: Aimeric Braudel appears to have been the first recruit to the French Projet Hardi programme. Prior to his enlistment in 1973, Braudel had actually had a highly distinguished career in the French Gendarmerie, with decorated service in Indochina and Algeria. From what we have been able to uncover, he was born to an ordinary family in rural France. His father was a WWI veteran, a rural lawyer by profession, while his mother was a school teacher. Braudel was too young to serve in WWII, though it is thought his family was involved with the Resistance.
Braudel enlisted in the Gendarmerie and fought in Indochina with the Republican Guard, before being detached to serve with intelligence services in the Algerian War. It appears to have been his work there, and his expertise in despatching Soviet infiltrators during the revolution of 1968, that brought him to the programme. He is considered by many to be the most formidable marksman in the Old World, and has also gained something of a reputation as an interrogator.
Personality: Those who have encountered Braudel universally comment on his courtly demeanour. He presents himself as the beau ideal of the French officer - dashing, gentlemanly, and witty. Those who have seen him at work are rather less flattering - words such as "bloodless", "heartless" and "conniving" usually abound. Whatever his appearances, he is not to be taken lightly under any circumstances.
