PhD students: Do not be afraid to list ABD (all but dissertation) once you have completed all your course work. Some fields are open to hiring ABD students to full-time positions (like with IO psychology).

A question I’ve always wondered, do recruiters/interviewers and the like treat a GED and a high school diploma the same?
I know they’re supposed to.
I’m also aware of the risk of personal bias (many people, culturally, view “no college” as uneducated, for example).
It made me wonder if there’s any unspoken or unwritten… hierarchy, I suppose.

I cannot speak for how everyone views it, but I suspect there is a hierarchy of education in most industries with it starting with dropout -> GED -> high school diploma -> Associates -> ...
I do not know how close the GED is to the HSD, but there is some difference.
Lastly, a 4-year degree supersedes everything before it. There is no need to list a HSD if you have a 4-year degree.
Hope that helps!

Thank you for answering, I appreciate it, and the extra tips too!
They're meant to be equal ( without boring you too much with the history. It came about in the 1940's, meant to show while the person is not completing high school, for whatever reason, they do have the knowledge and such to match someone who did. War and all that intterupting lives.)
However, I wasn't sure if still treated as such.
