Reminds me of the Hungarian cartoon titled "The Special Adventures of Aladár Mézga" where the titular teen boy, Aladar has a working inflatable space ship, that goes FTL and visits other planets Dr.Who style and gets back before morning. Space ship design is the same, and it even has a triple parachute, balloon emergency landing feat as well. Music was also very cool.
