One thing that always gets me about these heads is that the black muzzle completely obliterates any muzzle/face details in photographs. Black fur is just impossible to photograph, especially with digital cameras and their limited color capabilities; you just can't capture the shading details. My first design priority is photogeneity, all other considerations are secondary. If it doesn't look good on camera, it won't reflect well on my skills.

To fix this? I don't know, perhaps some highlighting; but that requires paint, not dye. If you can find some white or other light color paint, you might try just touching the tips or dusting the black with an airbrush to get some details to pop out.

In the future, use brown fur and highlight it with black dye might work out better.

Just some handy tips, hope you can put them to use.

yeah it drives me nuts I airbrushed the black with some white already dont want to make him look old. I think it would be better outside

Well good on ya for trying at least once, it's a fun process and I wish more people would give it a try, it really puts the art in perspective. I still think it looks good.

Well my advice is when you get frustrated leave it be, look at it set it up in a place where you can see it but do other things. When you get an idea play with paper towels XD. cheap and easy to fool around with. Just cut and tape them till you think you have something.
