Damn, that's a gorgeous piece of work and the background is quite impressive. I've seen very few other artists put that much of work into a background and at least one case was because the artist was doing the cover for a book he *knew* would have rabid fans all over it if he didn't get it "right".
Don't be surprised if this somehow makes it way back to
buckhopper I'm sure he'll have quite a few words for this. It IS his shtick after all.

I almost thought this was related to this lovely piece http://www.furaffinity.net/full/4402895/ but the uniforms don't match up XD. This is an astonishingly beautiful piece of work.
On traction: Just changing the type of wax used on those floors can bring them from no-traction to high-traction; it's all in the formulation. It's not done with shoes because there would be too MUCH grab, and people would stick to the floor too well. Further, it wears down faster. If changing the floor wax sounds like it's a bad idea, well, we could always opt for stick-on rubber pads for paws; theirs don't appear to be rough in texture at all, so maybe they're already using them?
Side note: UCONN was read in my head as pronounced identically to 'Yukon' -- huskies from the Yukon? Must have been a long trip for the game.

Man, this is great! Very fine detailing, especially on the crowd. I also love the reflections in the key.
Also, what with the NCAA Women's Final coming to a close, and the NBA Playoffs just kicking off, the hills are alive with the sound of basketball....at least for a die-hard basketball fan like me :D So this piece fits perfectly.

The thumbnail looked like 3D! The reflections definitely helped with that effect. Awesome.
I think the crowd's faces look a little deformed at times, but considering how many people are in the crowd, rushing with them would be acceptable. Some extra blurring would probably help on some. The canines in focus look great, though.

I don't follow sports, but drawing-wise, this is a great piece! I like the reflections on the shiny floor, the elaborate background, the "Wilson" lettering on the ball, and of course the two main girls here and the shading on their bodies. But most of all I like the paws and the digitigrade legs, they are particularly well done I think (seem to be anatomically stable from a physical balance standpoint). I've said this before elsewhere but I really like how you make paw pads- in fact, the pads at the bottom center are the first thing I noticed in this picture. What can I say, I guess I'm into paws!
