The world flexed around PK. His senses lagged behind his vision and he watched the pink-ivory-black all tilt and tumble and bend all around him before he found himself falling.
No, not falling. What was it when you fell through ground. Or not quite ground either.
Sinking.
That’s what he was doing. Sinking into a warm embrace. A wet embrace. Wrapping him up in a blanket of slick pillows and wispy smoke. Or he thought it was sinking. There was a weightlessness about him and the bright light above thinned into liquid streams and sticky rarefaction. Everything submerged in mumbling silence.
He couldn’t quite tell up from down or down from up. Was there a distinction in the two, if he didn’t know either of them?
Sound exploded into his world again. A loud, long a chorus of gurgling echoes. For a moment. He felt a sliver shiver of concern. Just for a moment. Then it slipped away back into the unanswering silence. Just a slimy pool of fizzing whispers.
Something pushed the mouse. Forward then in the opposite direction. He stumbled without standing and just felt the world through sound and echoes.
PK laughed. At least he though he was laughing, he wasn’t sure. Somewhere in the back of his mind he knew he was supposed to be elsewhere. But the thought of standing made him dizzy and he supposed maybe he should just “call in sick”. And stay still. Stay here.
The mouse didn’t really know what “calling in sick” meant really. He wasn’t sick. Who would he call? Heck as matter of fact he didn’t knew what “Here” was either.
“Here” could be anything. From the shadow of the moon to a shapes shifting on the far wall of a room of a hotel. Or shape-shifting hotel rooms. Hotels had shape-shifting room didn’t they?
PK laughed for sure this time.
