Original Species: Red-Winged Dreadclaw
The forests on the southern shores of Elysium are home to a formidable herbivore: The Red-Winged Dreadclaw.
Unlike its northern relative, The Elysian Dread Claw, this therizinosaurid isn't as vibrantly colored and has fewer feathers covering its body (the latter is caused by the warmer environment it resides in. Interestingly, its claws are shorter and more robust than its cousin's. The purpose of this adaptation becomes evident after a prolonged observation of this dinosaur's interactions with other animals. Thicker, stronger claws are better at delivering more powerful blows to its foes.
While the Elysian Dreadclaw has longer claws and can perform several quick slashes with them, those claws are more fragile and serve more to intimidate attackers with the raw ferocity of the attack. The Red-Winged Dreadclaw, on the other hand, delivers fewer slashes... but each attack is powerful enough to stagger even something as formidable as a large tyrant.
When not threatened, the Red-Winged Dreadclaw is fairly aloof and shows little interest in other creatures. In the worst-case scenario, it will perform a mock-charge or mock swipe with its claws to scare off any potential threat before returning to foraging.
