Akela has quite the quandary going on here. Not quite wolf, not quite human. I think the best way forward would be to embrace himself as something new rather than either or.
It comes to mind that wolfdogs (especially direct wolf hybrids) are sometimes unpredictable because of conflicting instincts, only in this case it's Akela's wolf vs human sides. The analytical part gained from his human side might be his best ally in this sort of situation, IMO.
