GradesGrades are measured in stars denoting difficulty. The measuring system for Grades starts with half a star and ends with thirteen stars, ramping up by half a star increments.
LocationsDungeons can be found anywhere with little to no sapient life i.e. abandoned mansions and estates. These places may need to be lacking in sapient life to spawn but need sapient life to be within a certain proximity to it. This proximity has the farthest distance value of approximately a week and a half’s travel.
EnvironmentsDungeon environments, while based on location, can have a startling wide variety. The cause is that dungeons create anomalous spaces within themselves, warping space and on some occasions time.
PhysiologyDungeons, while varied in location, have a few standards they follow in make-up. The first is that of the GATE. The opening that allows outsiders to enter the dungeon, either through magical or physical means. The second is the location prior to becoming a dungeon does not limit the total volume of space contained within its borders. The third is that dungeons need outsiders, dubbed Delvers, to grow. Everything a Delver does inside a dungeon, from fighting denizens to gathering from resource nodes, generates mana. Mana is the lifeblood and food of dungeons, as it requires Mana to live and grow.
Syncing and OpeningOn occasions dungeons desync from reality and their gate will close, the period differs based on the dungeon’s rarity i.e. common rarity dungeons will only be desynced for twelve hours at most. Dungeons that open for the first time, or reopen after a long time, will always be felt, it sends out a pulse of pure Mana. This event is known as a “Dungeon Yawn”.
SpawnersDungeons have another part to the physiology, spawners. The denizens of a dungeon must come from somewhere. Spawners create those denizens, if you can think of it or rationalize it existing naturally in the world is some way, shape, or form it can create a corresponding spawner. Dungeons can have multiple spawners, only limited by the space available. The first consciously spawned creature of the spawner is designated a “Scion”. Scions are the pinnacle of their creature type, can gain classes, titles, and develop their own unique personalities.
ResourcesDungeons naturally produce resources of many types. If it can be found out in the world, it can be created by a dungeon near limitlessly, so long as they get mana. From herbalism to hunting, from mining to timber. Dungeons consider “treasure chest” as a resource that they can grow and fill.
ThemesDungeons either have an overall theme or their spawners have themes they follow. From location based (pre-existing or made), based on events or organizations, based around concepts (such as puzzle or horde) and can based around a resource. Themes give an overview of what you may encounter.
