Introducing Mozart.....
As I have written, I recently lost Sebastian, my kitty of 16 years. He was a dear companion and I didn't think I'd ever have another cat like him. I'm always thinking about him and often get depressed not seeing him on the woodpile, sunning himself in his favorite spot or just being there with me. The last thing on my mind was to adopt another cat. Sebastian is still very fresh in my mind. But, after a little push from my mate,
silvermane, I went to the Animal Refuge League, here in Westbrook and met an awesome soul in a large, 3 year old black cat. The name on his crate was "Bubba". Our eyes met and he gave out a lazy meow. The lady that worked there allowed me to spend some time alone with him. He sat on a window ledge and payed no attention to the outside. He was totally focused on me. His purr sounds like when you try and pull start a lawnmower. It's so intense you can actually feel it. After about 15 minutes, I took him back to his crate. I was asking the lady about him. She stopped me mid sentence and pointed over to him. He was sitting up staring right at me. She had said he never does that. He usually falls back to sleep. I thought she was just trying to get him a home by saying that. My woof wanted to look at dogs, so we went around the corner to the dog stalls. After about a half hour, I wanted to go back to the cat room one more time. As soon as I entered to talk to the lady again, Bubba sat right up and stared. I decided to give it a little more time. I left. A week went by and during that time I had both Sebastian and Bubba on my mind. I went back one more time. I spent another 20 minutes with Bubba and decided to take him home. I renamed him "Mozart". He's twice Sebastian's weight and has nearly the exact same personality. Totally laid back. Now, he's no replacement for Sebastian, but he is helping me cope with the loss. I do find myself looking at Mozart and remembering my wonderful kitty of 16 years, getting teary eyed. I couldn't have found a better companion. He's really taken to his new surrounding better than I could have hoped. He hangs out with everyone, especially me. >"^_^"< THANK YOU Mozart....

Looks like a Bombay.
Be sure to watch his weight, because that's pretty much like the only downside to this breed of cat, they're obsessive eaters/food motivated/prone to begging/scrounging off the floor. Other than that, they're social, intelligent, mellow and full of win. They're like the `anti-loner` cat.
Our bombay fusses when I turn off the TV... and he sits on the couch with an arm up on the arm watching it.. o.o; it was pretty trippy the first time. Mellow chill awesome cat that wants to follow us around and be in the same room as us usually. ^^ He also responds to his name which is pretty nice, spose maybe it's just a late first for me and cats though. Ours lets us rub his belly and play with him with our feet and push him around and is just a total passive giant that wouldn't bite or claw at us. When he gets frustrated, he doesn't run away like some bitch cat, He just holds his ground and waits for you to stop... that includes scolding him for bad actions though too... he like.. you can grab a spray bottle to squirt him, and he just turtles up and continues whatever it is he's doing. <_>; For some reason he's only afraid of green plastic bottles, it's the only thing that we can use to get him to run from somewhere he's not supposed to be. XD
Excellent choice on breed of cat. Really hope you have a similar amount of awesomeness.

Well, Mozart is definitely not food motivated. I fill his bowl with about a half cup of food and he gradually picks at it throughout the day. The same with his wet food, though he tends to finish that off a little quicker. He IS laid back, but you can't rub his belly. He'll claw you. He does love being petted and hangs out with me, follows me around and is quite vocal. >"^_^"<
