Where I live, we don't have paid firefighters, but, we still have three dedicated Volunteer Fire Departments ( VFDs, that is ) in this corner of Shelburne County: one in Lockeport, one in Jordan Falls, and one in Sable River. As you can see, this fine red truck belongs to the Sable River VFD.
I took this shot last year while all the cars, trucks and parade floats were lining up and getting in place for the Canada Day parade.
There's a prize for the first commenter who correctly identifies the Make of the Sable River VFD's trucks...
A Crossfolf Camera Tribute to our volunteer firefighters. Thanks for everything, folks!

Yeah, the emblem is really good.
And yes, I'm not the only one who appreciates our local volunteers. They literally saved some peoples' homes during the forest fires we endured here last year.
One of the guys I work with is a volunteer on the Lockeport crew, and he was trapped in the woods for about 6 hours one day. He wasn't in any immediate danger, but he had to wait until the rest of the firefighters could make a path out for him.
