I have wings (well, my OC does, but let's pretend, shall we?). I've often likened flying to having to do pushups for however long you're in the air, because you're lifting your entire body weight with your limbs. Yes, you can rest for a bit as you glide, but even then you're still supporting your own weight on your outstretched wings.
