Spring, Nineteenth Year of the Xin Zhuo Emperor
Morha had been playing with her ability to control electricity. She knew that it was related to her ability to manipulate air, so the mušḫuššu struggled with getting the wind currents properly aligned. Doing that right was frustrating: it was hard enough to collect the breeze flowing around her, but even harder to bend it and gradually mold it into something usable. Currently, if the mušḫuššu was able to get a ball of air to spin fast enough it could generate static and then electricity. However more often than not the effort failed, and the twirling current would fall apart in her claws long before anything would charge up.
This attempt failed as well, for the dozenth time. *Argh this stupid thing always screws up!* The purple dragon swore loudly in frustration.
That got the attention of Qing in the distance, who gently excused herself from her conversation with Ying and went over to join the mušḫuššu. *Something not working?* The older dragon asked.
*I can't control this!* Morha exclaimed in annoyance as the breeze swished around her. *The air doesn't fold like I need it to, and without that I can't generate the power needed for a current! I keep pushing but it always falls apart!*
Qing sat down beside her younger companion.
*Perhaps I can be of help.*
The blue long raised her paw upwards into the air. Gradually, the space above her paws seemed to dissolve, forming into a ball of water.
*I am not a dragon from the West like you. I cannot control lighting- I work with water. But I do not control the liquid, for it has its own flow-on the ground, at the seas and lakes and rivers, and in the air. You do not control the elements. It's supposed to come to you naturally. Just let it flow through you.*
Morha cocked her head sideways. *What does that mean?*
*It means you are not a separate entity from your element, controlling it like humans with their engineering dams and channels to force the rivers somewhere-or like how they force a pet to follow orders.* The mušḫuššu flinched at that statement as Qing continued. *You are a part of your element. Think of yourself as part of the air all around you. Let it wrap around you. And then nudge things towards where you want to go.*
The purple dragon looked blankly back at the blue dragon.
Qing scratched her neck. *Let's try something else. We teach hatchlings to handle water by this method when they start out.*
The long assumed a padmasana posture, closed her eyes, and formed her paws into the shape of a cup.
*Empty your mind. Imagine yourself as part of the currents, until you feel it flowing around you and into you. When you feel it, carefully push it until it starts going where you'd like it to. Gently bend it in upon itself into a sphere so it collects energy and speeds up.*
The air atop the blue dragon's palms began to spin, and then seemingly crumple in upon itself like a crushed fruit to release water, again building up into a ball of liquid.
*Like this. Now you try. Soon enough it'll come to you quickly as a second nature. Lightning may not be like water, but air is, and perhaps you can control lightning if you control the aether.*
Morha shrugged, assumed the lotus posture and closed her eyes and opened her palms. The mušḫuššu then tried to clear her mind.
*Calm.* Qing admonished.
*I am calm!* Morha snapped in reply.
The blue dragon sighed.
Emptiness was not coming to the purple dragon, despite her efforts.
This is stupid.
Lose your sense of self, Morha.
She sat there eyes closed ineffectually for several minutes.
*Perhaps a mušḫuššu couldn't be expected to know how to harmonize.* A certain voice muttered.
Morha frowned.
And then, nothing.
Blank.
There is naught, only the flowing air. It brushes by smoothly, like water, like silk.
I gently coax it and it follows me.
I nudge it more and it bends more, and more, until it finally turns in upon itself, like a wheel. It retains its shape because it is one, the breeze folds in on itself, as I lightly push it faster and faster. The ball of air spins quickly, and it begins to charge up, more and more the faster the ball spins.
Morha abruptly opened her eyes to see a large whirling sphere in front of her paws, slightly crackling with energy.
*Whoa!* The purple dragon exclaimed. Immediately the ball slowed down, lost its speed and disappeared. Qing however was smiling at the mušḫuššu.
*Very good! Try again, but this time, keep your attention focused.*
The second attempt was much faster as Morha quickly repeated the flow and molding and soon the current of air began crackling hard with electricity. By kneading and coaxing the streams of air the mušḫuššu could manipulate the direction of the flow, causing the charge to quickly begin buildin. She played around with it a bit, and managed to get electric current to arc from one spot to the next. Then Morha suddenly threw a bolt of lightning from her paw 50 bu-past a surprised Qing- and hit a rock, which cracked violently under the current.
The blue long looked at her companion in shock.
*Hahahaha!* Morha laughed evilly as another electric current she created jumped from one group of extended fingertips to another, swirling in the middle where she molded the wind into a mesh. She came off looking slightly demonic and insane.
Qing smiled, a little uncomfortable at how her younger companion was acting. *Very good Morha. Now keep practicing. You’d better get used to using your little ability before you start dreaming of empires.*
*Oh I’ll keep practicing alright!* Came the reply.

There is actually a bit, though water appears to be the most common, appearing in longs, underwater panthers and sea serpents.
I've not thought of it before, but I guess that the dragons that handle earth would be worms/wurms like the lindworm and the Mongolian Death Worm (who will canonically show up in The Water Tiger Turns story). They are probably like the sandworms in the Dune series.
