Buck Brothers: Patriots' Day 2024 (4/15/24)
Today in the Vexillological Corner...
The third Monday of April is Patriots' Day in the 🇺🇸 United States. This day commemorates the start of the American Revolution in 1775 that started at Lexington and Concord in Massachusetts. The holiday was first celebrated in Massachusetts. However the American Revolution started on April 19, 1775 making it a bit confusing.
To celebrate, here are some drawings of some (but not all due to time crunch) of the historical American flags such as Sons of Liberty and Washington's Headquarters flag. All of these flags were outlined in Micron pens and Sharpies and colored with Crayola markers, along with the flag recrations from last year and the year before. Due to Instagram limits, both the flags of the Grand Union and the Bennington Flag were not presented. This illustration might make a good wishlist to what flags I might run into or obtain this year.
Lastly, the American Flag was flown in celebration of Patriots' Day at the nauticusnorfolk.
This is the week of the Virginia International Tattoo vatatt and a recreation of the flag of NATO will be coming up this week! So for this week we are stretching Patriots' Day to recreate some historical flags!
