Over a period of a few months the whole story came to me... At the time we had just moved to Canada. i was house-husband taking care of the the four-year-old and two-year-old boys. While the kids played on the beach, in the park, slept in the car, this story was unfolding in the back of my awareness...Influenced by native-colonial exhibits at the Royal B.C. Museum in Victoria, the songs of David Sylvian, my own sense of being an outsider in a new land, the wife's English culture...

The whole story was there before a single drawing was done...So i had no idea what these people looked like - so this was was the first sketch - keeping it very loose to see what the possibilities were...
