Commissioner here with an explanation of the commission!
As a pedigree chart, the solid lines indicate marriage and actual blood relations. The dotted lines are adopting and wedlock/nonmarriage relations.
The central character is Renaud, the Miqo'te (catboy) roughly in the middle was adopted by an Elezen (elf) nobility, with a long and pureblooded pedigree that they pride themselves on in society. However, despite being adopted, he is actually a half-breed born out of wedlock (indicated by the long lineage off to the side) as indicated by the dotted lines. His father killed his mother (and was in turn killed by his adopted father), although he doesn't know that. Still, he considers himself of prestigious lineage and a steward of the elite breeding that Ishgardian (his nation) nobility prides itself upon.
Ishgard is at war with dragonkind, but the secret is that everyone is actually cursed to turn into a dragon when exposed to dragon blood - which Renaud ends up imbibing, hence his transformation in the line below. After that, as a dragon, he ends up having a lot of....trysts with many other dragons, mostly in the position of getting mounted. So unfortunately, his vaunted and pure pedigree has been despoiled by his nation's enemies. and his carefully pruned family tree is now a sprawling bush now that he is the mother to all these various dragonspawn, hence his crying parents.
The crux of the commission is to portray the illustrious bloodline he is proud of and how he is supposed to be make more noble sons and daughters to carry on his ancestors' legacy! But the curse ends up hijacking his genetic...structure..and now that he's a dragon, this pedigree that has been cultivated over hundreds of years is now just full of dragons (who are the enemy) and he's basically mated with any of them he's come across so he's really a traitorous slut who's shamed the whole family :p
