Okay so Insomniac Games is holding a contest for the next Ratchet & Clank game where you need to create a new skin for the game. Winner wins a bunch of prizes including the new game itself, but best of all, their skin design will be brought to life and made available for download from the Playstation Network!
I spent my entire day off working on this but I didn't mind at all, it's a labor of love. I can't possibly describe how much I want to win this. I've been a MAJOR fan of the games since the first installment and to have some of my work in the game- fully rendered in 3D- would be a dream come true! I don't even care about the other prizes!
Anyway, this is one of my absolute best spur-of-the-moment designs and oddly enough, I made it up as I went along. I'm pretty proud of this one, I really, REALLY hope this wins!

By accurate you mean Ratchet himself? I hate to say it but that's actually a template. I modified it a huge lot, but the body, proportions and all, were already there from the start. Insomniac's got downloadable templates for the contest so that all you need to do is make a new outfit.
I really like yours though. I think it's the fact that it is a fairly simple design that makes it work, and using the ACiT locket is a really nice touch!
Still, I can hardly stand the wait! I don't think I have much of a chance since there are probably better drawn, more creative ideas submitted, but I'm still hoping for the best.

Y'know, I might have to play around with the template a bit more, though I don't know what would happen if Insomniac found that somebody used their template for evil... Still, that's a very nice idea.
Sure, I would've usually wanted to go with something a little more "startling," but hopefully the bare midriff will be enough to make it interesting, but not enough for Insomniac Games to turn down the design. Either way, I'd love to play the game using this!

GRRRRRRR!!! This is because most gamers are male and most people are straight. it's just marketing. i have to give insomniac (or high impact for that matter) credit from throwing us that major bone (so to speak) in secret agen clank...but it just sucks that we've gotten to see barely any skin in HD yet. you do have to admit that ratchet's pretty effing badass in deadlocked with all that armor on though.
True, though as soon as I got the chance, I got the helmet removal cheat. What can I say, I'd rather not have my favorite characters' faces covered up. Especially because one of the many reasons I like Ratchet in the first place is his character design. I usually avoid getting the completely covered armors near the end of each game too.
It would be a whole lot better if High Impact games would make new character models based off of Ratchet's updated design. That would make me happy, even if the model for the PSP games could never hold a candle to the HD counterparts.
I do have one example of slightly wider marketing, in Resident Evil 5, Chris Redfield has a buyable biker-type skin that looks a whole lot like leather bondage gear. Since Chris stand as one of my all time favorite video game crushes right now, that was quite a pleasant surprise.

I haven't tried the game yet myself but it looks like it has potential from the commercials I've seen. Not really sure what it's all about though. I've never played the first one before.

Wow, I had no idea there were holding such a contest like this, curses for not checking Insomniac. But that's awesome and the opportunity of a life time. I would do it but I think I'll pass and wait for next time if they do something like that.
I really do LOVE your take on him. It's awesome an I think it'll be cool because you never get to see Ratchet's hands due to all the gloves he wears and it'd be cool to see some more skin of his. Yeah! It's awesome, isn't it? I would've never known if I hadn't seen a couple of contest entries on FA here. Unfortunately for many folks, it's for US only this time. Though in previous instances, they held the same contest in Japan. Actually come to think of it, in the last game there was a skin contest winner from a Japanese contest where you can see quite a bit of his hands. This looks pretty darn awesome man! I have only heard of this competition today and as i'm a MASSIVE fan of the Ratchet and Clank
series, I was pretty darn happy to see this comp. Shame about me living in Australia...I can't enter. BUT i wish you the best of luck friendo!

Don't worry, they might consider having a later contest in your area. At least it could be a possibility. I don't know how they decide on contest locations. They've even had the contest in Japan in previous installments.
Anyway, I'm glad you like it! I can't wait to see what the winning design looks like... even if it isn't mine. I've still got eight days to wait until the reveal.
