Celeste Nuthatch is a very special character. This is because she is the first OC, since Yosh, in which I made to help better understand more about who I am, why I am, and how to accept myself without feeling shame, sadness, or feel like I am any less of a person than anyone else.
So, for this work of art, I am going to try and have Celeste introduce herself to all of you.
“Hello! My name is Celeste Nuthatch and, uh, I am a nuthatch. Although I am based after Mr. Nuthatch from the 1998 animated series, Birdz, I can assure you all that I am of both sound mind and body. I’m also sure you can tell Yosh-E-O is typing every word I say as, being an average age of four years old, there is no way I’d have a clue as to what half of these words he uses mean.
You have, probably, seen Yosh O’Ducky dress like a girl from time-to-time. This was because Yosh-E-O was trying to express how, for the longest time, he never quite got along with other guys. He even has quite a traumatic event where a jock made quite the mockery of him over something he never intended to do back in the seventh grade. Fortunately, with Oxnard’s help, Yosh-E-O was able to rewrite that horrible time spent in the gym class showers to be less hurtful. Today, the human behind Yosh-E-O can safely say that he is no longer afflicted by what happened all those years ago in his real life.
Back to me, I am here to allow Yosh to feel good about how, for much of his adult life, he has found himself more welcomed by girls than boys. Perhaps it is because his visual disability made him incapable, or unwelcome, to participate in those things boys typically did while he was growing up? Regardless as to why he has more feminine than masculine qualities, Yosh-E-O has thought on how his life as a disabled person may have been different if he was born a girl instead of a boy. I, Celeste Nuthatch, am that girl.
Like Yosh O’Ducky, I exist in all time periods imaginable. You’ll often see me as a toddler having misadventures with Yosh’s sister, Winry O’Ducky. My single father, Lucca Lovey, helps Yosh-E-O see how supportive Lucca has been in real life towards him improving upon his self-esteem and self-empowerment. This is why, unlike Yosh-E-O’s avatar, Yosh O’Ducky, I will not be as afraid, easily manipulated, or burdened by having to live up to standards that don’t align with who and what I am.
Another thing you should know about me is how I, like Yosh, prefer diapers over underwear. I find them very comfortable and like the convenience of them over worrying about making myself all vulnerable in public places. This trait is certainly more of Yosh O’Ducky, but even girls can have pampered, padded fun, too. Additionally, I find the idea of having my diaper changed, or changing someone else’s diaper, to be a true test of both faith and trust. When I get all soaked, I’d like to know I am safe with the one who is changing me into a fresh diaper. If you can put yourself on a changing table in a private place and go through all the steps of being cleaned up and put in fresh pamps without feeling worry, or fear, you know you have found someone truly special that is, very likely, never going to make you feel horrible for who and what you are. Besides, I am only a super-soaker as a baby, toddler, and preschooler. Diapers, to me, are more of a ‘comfort’ item as I grow older. I wear them, but only use them during emergencies, or if I just feel too lazy to go to a potty when I’m in the middle of something.
I love to look and feel cute! Purple is my favorite color and knowing I can feel great in both men’s and women’s clothing is just the best. Papa Lucca never stops telling me that I deserve to be happy and not let anyone, including myself, take away that happiness. So, as I grow up into an adult, you’ll see me just enjoying each day of life with few, if any, worries. Everyone is allowed to have a “Bad Day”, or have those things that make them sad, mad, or outright unpleasant to be around. Yosh-E-O has used Yosh with his friends, like Nishi / Oxnard, Tacki, Zee-Zee, and others to reach where I, Celeste Nuthatch, am currently at. Rest assured that Yosh will, eventually, be as proud and confident as me. I’m friends with his sister and have all the reasons in the world to keep a close eye on the little dino-duckling as he grows into a big, dino-duckling.
Well, that’s me in a “Nuthatch-shell”. I hope you liked getting to know more about me, my purpose, and how I represent a part of Yosh-E-O that, through Lucca IRL, he is striving to be more of each and every day.”
Nishi / Oxnard did another variant of this artwork of Celeste Nuthatch where she is just in her diapers. Expect a short story that is more character-focused than meant to explain her relevance to me and my goals at becoming a more confident and empowered individual both online and in real life.
