Kenopsia: the eerieness of places left behind.

One of my favorite entries in the Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows (look them up on YouTube), it describes that uncanny feeling when a seemingly lived in space is left suddenly empty. Familiar walls become eerie and forlorn, spaces filled with memory turn into voids that are palpable only in their absence. Months and years spent laughing, playing, loving, and living linger like ghosts in the walls, like echoes that never found a way to be.

...people shouldn't live like ghosts. It's just too sad to be in a place and leave nothing behind.
