"When the combination forces of the Topal Coalition breached Neo-Imperial defences and beseiged the former Imperial City, the ancient seat of Cyrod seemed within reach. While the city is not what is once was, the very heart of the Septimites and their ghost-empire laid bare before them, to be grasped and crushed. Besides the rich plunder and a strategic transport hub and harbour, it would have meant the final death of the man from Atmora, and the return at last of a land long lost to the kin of Aldmeris.
Yet it was not to be. The New Model Legion rallied and met and exceeded all expectations and predicitions. The ruby ranks took strong positions and held firm. Outnumbered and bombarded day and night, they remained. Assaults were beaten back and vicious counter-attacks regained lost ground. Elven and auxilliary units were destroyed in increasingly desperate attempts to break through. All for nought.
When winter came, colder than for many years, Cyrodium and her people remained standing. Coalition forces had lost their initiative, and irreplacable amounts of troops and supplies. They withdrew to Colovica and Al-Nibay, to reinforce for another campaign. The Ruby Empire, last hoary ghost of an age that should have gone by, remained to fight yet another year."

A little something from the briefcase. It was an old and pretty bad sketch, but I quite like it. Mashing up Elder Scrolls lore is pretty fun, and I liked the idea of a modernised legionaire. Something different, at any rate.
