Just a little fun story I made for Hakuten, featuring his oc Hao. I just had to make this! This was a fun story to write for sure~

Hao slowly investigated the building from every single angle, sizing it up and looking for entry points. It was a modest 3-story brick building, with nothing too special about it… from the outside at least. Inside? Who knows. It was an office for a nearby robotics factory, which means it was bound to have all sorts of secrets. It would be such a shame if someone were to bust in and steal some top-secret info…
The front door was an obvious no-no, but the back door didn’t seem that enticing either. It was a fire exit, and opening it would no doubt cause a ruckus, but probably too big of one. What about the roof? Usually buildings like these have a roof entrance.
The liquid metal kirin thought about it for a while. Yeah… the roof will work. All that he needed to do was scale the building, which should be easy enough. Hao brisky walked over to the building’s side, which had an alleyway. Forming his arms into two climbing picks, he swung one into the brick. It left behind a hole in the brick just deep enough for him to ‘grip’ it. He then repeated his with the other pick, aiming higher up and lifting himself off the ground. He repeated this over and over, slowly scaling the wall. It was easy to do, just rather tedious. Within a minute or two his picks latched onto the edge of the building, and he pulled himself up.
There wasn’t much on the roof… just a few ventilators and external AC units. But the real prize was the roof access door tucked away in a corner on the other side of the building. It was even propped open with a door stop, practically inviting him in with open arms.
“Too easy.” Hao thought to himself.
He briefly and subtly smirked as he deformed his climbing picks and made his way into the building with confidence. The shiny kirin found himself on the third floor of the building, his metallic hooves gently touching the thin carpet as he made his way through.
He did a quick peek of every room he came across, but most of them were meeting rooms and offices of those lower in the chain of command, so to speak. They probably didn’t have anything significant. What he was really interested in was the server room and the offices of the higher ups since those will definitely contain the juicy bits of info. Luckily no one seemed to be around. Made sense since it was nighttime and there would only be a few here at most keeping tabs on the place.
After about a dozen checked rooms Hao finally found the CEO’s room. “Perfect” He thought to himself as he opened the door quietly and walked in. There wasn’t much in here: A desk with a computer on top, some shelves with books, and a painting of some weird sunset. Hao checked the computer, but it was locked. “Of course it would be… hmmm…” The kirin looked around. Maybe there was something else?
“Maybe there’s something behind the paintings?”
He took them off their places. Nothing.
“Ok, what about the books? Maybe there’s a hidden switch?”
He pulled every book on the shelf. None of them were ‘stuck’.
“Maybe a button on the desk?”
Hao felt the entire desk. Nothing. But then he noticed something underneath the desk: A tile of carpet that looked to be cut out.
Hao carefully removed the carpet tile to reveal a hidden safe. It was a small one, with a digital keypad. It would take too long to brute force it, meaning there was only one option: cracking it wide open.
Hao formed a large drill from his arm and started to drill at the safe. The drill itself was rather quiet, but the sound it made drilling into the safe sure wasn’t. Sparks flew as the kirin drilled a wide hole into the surprisingly thin safe within a few minutes.
He curiously reached into the safe with his goopy hand, metal feeling around until he felt something and grabbed it. It was a USB labeled “MASTER ACCESS KEY”. “Well, this is a great find” He thought to himself. “Time to test this bad boy.”
Hao started by inserting the USB drive into the computer on the desk. Within seconds it accepted the drive and granted Hao access. Now all he needed to do was comb the files for anything particularly tasty.
He first checked the emails on the computer… nothing really stood out, just random conversations between employees.
Then he tried a folder marked “Company Purchases”. Nothing special here. Just a lot of… well, purchases for basic materials.
“What’s this?” He checked a folder marked “Secret”. Turns out it was just personal stuff. Very personal stuff. Not what Hao was looking for.
“Oh, here’s something” Hao grinned as he opened a folder labeled “blueprints”. There were schematics and blueprints for so many of the company’s robot designs, including some that weren’t even finished or straight up abandoned. Hao couldn’t help but smile wide. This was what he was looking for.
Hao pulled a flash drive out of his own liquid metal form, plugged it into the computer, and started moving files to it. It was taking its sweet time to move it all though.
“Hopefully no one will not-”
“Hey, this area is restricted!
“nevermind.”
A red male fox in a suit had barged into the room and had caught the metal kirin in the act.
“What the hell are you doing here? Get out-” The fox was interrupted by the barrel end of a suddenly formed gun from the kirin, aiming right at him.
“Just keep quiet and I won’t have to hurt you.” Hao smiled a little as he aimed his armgun at the fox.
“W-woah, easy now…” The fox held still. “You don’t have to shoot me, I-I’ll comply.”
“Good.” Hao smiled mischievously but warmly at the same time. “Then just stay there and let me do my thing. Or else my friend here will be very angry.”
The fox just stood still, not even daring to move from his spot. Hao waited with increasing impatience for the download to finish. Things were tense… for the fox, that is. Not for Hao, they were mostly going as planned.
Once the download finally finished, Hao removed both USB drives and put the access key back in its breached safe. “See? That wasn’t so bad was it?” Hao smiled subtly, his gun pointed down but still formed.
“Y-Yeah… Can I go now?” The fox shook a little.
“Yes you can.”
And with that, the fox ran off in a rush. Probably to set off the alarm that he breached the facility. But it didn’t matter. Hao got what he wanted. Now it was time to escape.
Putting the flash drive into the side of his shiny form, the kirin swiftly yet casually walked out of the CEO office straight for the roof exit. He then took a running start and jumped off the roof, landing on the ground as a thick pool of liquid metal. He then slowly rose from the puddle as he slowly reformed himself with a chuckle. “That was fun.”
And with that, Hao slowly and confidently walked away from the building… just as the alarm went off too. Another successful breach expertly done by the metallic kirin.
