In my brief research hopping around, I've only noticed
Mitsuhiro Ide in his bright orange SSSP uniform
with the white helmet in the show,
with only the more recent pictures
of the aged actor wearing the blue jacket
like in this your portrait – I'm guessing he occasionally
wears the blue uniform in the original show, too?

Oh, and I've stumbled upon this trailer
for a new Ultraman movie while looking for Ide's appearances!

Aaaaaw, thank you so much! We really love Ide! The writers were pretty generous with his character, and I love how exaggerated Nihei Masanari played him. A gem! And I'm glad I could make him very deer-like too, I think it fits well how he is tall, think, fast, and expressive. He even "freezes" in an episode!

Aaaand you guessed correctly - the blue jacket was also present in the 1966 series, but used in non-combat situations (because, like Starfleet, SSSP is pretty much "we are all doings science of course, but we 'get' ourselves a lot in the midst of combats!").
