I mean, they only specified mimics have to be material objects, they didn't specify the object couldn't be an animal carving :P

Rihgt!? Mimics should be OP as hell, since they can shapeshift and be anything they want. Even if they're for some reason bad at transformating into animate things, they should be able to take a form that is capable of chasing you down.
