first i must say
MY FUCKING SCANNER SUCKS BALLS
it cannot even spell subtle.
all the awesome subtle colour details are GONE. the pink in his nose might as well not exist and that was after heroic measures by my mate to get them to scan, there is a LOT more contrast in the fur colour, the light shades here and there. and the coloured pencil i used over the water colours stands out like a Leper hooker in a nun convention...


This one is kinda packed with symbols. for i do love such things. it is awesome to have ideograms (symbols) that can mean entire huge concepts. Like letters that mean not only an entire alphabet but could sumerize an entire book of field of knowledge. Magic is hardly the only thing that uses such. Math has many many symbols and even placements of other numbers to represent increasing values. it is all so interesting to me. like someone giving you an entire new language to play with. I use many things in this piece drawing from many cultures and times since such things can be so timeless and in the case of some symbols so universal it would be easier to mention cultures that did not use certain ones (such as wavy lines to represent water which were nigh universal here on earth through the ages. in fact i cannot think of any culture with pictograms that did not use it.

Anyway the runes mean in order Joy, Wholeness or the Sun and powers associated with the sun, Breakthrough or daybreak which is often meant to be the start of something new and positive, Completion, and Flowing.

the spiral (in his eye and on his sleeve) has many meanings in many times and places. here it refers to power concentrating. the one on the sleeve is the same as the one on the cauldron in the previous picture which is uplifting power.

other symbols on the robe are things like the Stupa of elemental power used in Tibetan symbology, Om, symbols of fire and power, a Chinese symbol of strength and unity.

and of course the eye of Osiris (the eye itself a powerful symbol of knowledge)
