A character constructed in collaboration with my amazing friend
SkunknFriends in Fiona's story in my Victorian Steampunk universe. She's had much life on pen and paper, and it feels great to give her life here for viewing pleasure!
Ayame had settled in Avalon from her home country for a few years now. She's come to quite enjoy her time in this new land. She loves to see the theater when she can afford it, especially when they interpret stories from her home. While they tend to get some details wrong, they are a nice reminder of home despite their frequent use of artistic interpretation.
With that sense of wonder and enjoyment though, it was quite difficult for her to find stable footing. She lacked many skills to get into any proper work force, and of course came to the harsh streets of New Leodin without a coin in her name. It was after some time spent homeless and trudging the streets that she did eventually find work in clubs as an entertainer, where they don't ask many questions about a woman's past. While the tanuki woman was never very open about her time in her home country, she was clearly very good at talking to people. Her clientele enjoyed her company, and always had a way of getting them to open up about themselves.
While working in a rather dingy club, she met a woman by the name of Fiona, a skunk also down on her luck. Ayame decided to take Fiona in, and provide her with shelter, food, and some means to defend herself. They quickly became great friends, and near inseparable.
One day, what felt like any other, Fiona comes to Ayame and tells her that she's had enough of being desperate at the bottom of the ladder. It was time to leave this dump, and make something for themselves. Fiona then asks Ayame to teach her how to read, become more eloquent like she was. So they could go work at a fancier club, where the clients have heftier pockets. It was like Ayame had saw something change in the young skunk. She had grown this sudden want for more, a sense of.. Ambition.
Fiona's learning payed off, as they left the dingy club that paid them mere copper a day, and found themselves in one of New Leodin's nicest establishment's, The Unicorn. The copper turned to gold, and their worth began to grow. The ball was rolling up for these partners in crime.

Oooo! A tanuki. ^!^ And she's looking so classy, and humbly simple, in her outfit. ^!^ Love the blue's contrast with her light brown and brown fur. ^!^ It's like the contrast between blue and orange, but a little more tame. ^!^ And her red amulet really sticks out, bringing the outfit together with a bit of pizazz. ^!^
Her eyes are so soft and friendly. ^!^ And her hair looks like a traditional Japanese style. ^!^ Sorta mixed with British. ^!^
And loooove her backstory! ^!^ Hehe! ^!^ So sweet. She's a woman that knows what it's like to be poor like Fiona, and is like a big sister. ^!^ Teaching and helping her. Yay! ^!^ Wonder if she's privy to Fiona's ambitions. Also, makes Fiona even more of a sympathetic villain type. ^!^ Having someone she wants to share a better life with as she strives to never feel hopeless again.

Thank you!! I knew you'd enjoy her, especially being so close to a wonderful skunk.
I love how sweet and adorable she is, you just know she gives the best hugs. Her and Fiona's relationship is certainly very interesting. They're almost opposite in how tender she is, and how rambunctious Fiona is. But they balance each other out I've come to see. Fiona strives for the fancy self improvement that Ayame has, and Ayame has a bit of drive and more self worth with Fiona. A great duo I would think!
Glad you like the mixture of her cultures as well. As an immigrant myself I know that you tend to kind of amalgamate multiple cultures into yourself, and both countries become part of your identity. I love where I am now, as much as I love my reminders of where I'm from. I have a real connection with this character for that reason.

Ooo. Hehe. Nice! ^!^ Love a duo that balances each other. ^!^ Hehe! She's gonna help Fiona not become too evil? Maybe?
