Hey everyone, Rahshu here, with a bit of lost media for you all.
Twenty five years ago, I embarked on a journey to bring to life a story about good and evil, light and darkness, a story about two childhood friends turned enemies by powers beyond their control - an ever consuming darkness set to consume reality. Originally meant to be released in three parts, only two were made. The first is a light-hearted road trip. The second strikes a much darker tone, deconstructing the tropes of the RPGs of its day.
Darkenergy 1 was released in 2001, to generally negative reviews. The game’s comedic tone, and over reliance on stock graphics, sound and questionable music choices left many to pass it by.
Darkenergy 2 was released in 2004, and was given a rushed release, and was quickly relegated to obscurity. Those who viewed it noting several game-breaking bugs that stopped players early on.
Behind the scenes, I was working on a patch to fix the errors in Darkenergy 2, all while starting on Darkenergy 3, but this has sadly not come to be.
Due to several a string of unfortunate events, the original computer that housed the original games was stolen, and all attempts to continue from my last backup ended in failure.
During the course of building the Darkenergy games, I lost 6 computers, several virtual machines, numerous hard drives, and an unknown number of backups of the original files. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve picked up the Darkenergy games, attempted to patch the bugs in the games, and turn them into complete projects only for a system to suffer catastrophic failure due to issues outside of my control. Most of the machines were at their end of their life, and one was just… cat hair… enough to take out a power supply! Some of this was just random!
In the end, I resorted to running Windows virtually an a Mac, and was able to make some progress, before that too died on me. At this point, I’ve deemed these games to be cursed, and a series that does not wish to be made. So, instead of having it stay on my shelf gathering dust, I’d love to see how you’d fare with the title. I invite you to get lost in the game that faded out of existence, 20 years ago, frozen in time. May you find your adventures to be rewarding.

Hey there!
*laughs* OMG, this game! Every time I turn around, this thing has another issue! It wouldn't be the Darkenergy series without *something* weird happening!
Okay, I've checked the link and it looks like it's working again. So sorry about the issue!
I've never had a project have so many development problems in my life! There's a reason I call this game cursed! 🤣
Thanks for telling me, by the way! If you're still having trouble, be sure to let me know.
And hey, thanks for checking out my games. I've put a lot of work into these over the years, and especially with the second one, I tried to make it stand out from the crowd of RPGMaker games, and give it its own feel. I'm really glad that you enjoyed the feel, and I hope that you enjoy playing games and seeing the new content.
