Big. Strong. Powerful.
Those are the words that could describe the lava dragon Schoria to a T. She was the epitome of destruction in Ingenti Maximus, someone to be feared and revered by both those insect humans and dragons alike! Everywhere she went, death and destruction followed her. Human settlements normally were reduced to a smoldering haze after a visit from her, or completely flattened under her mighty black scaled foot as she all but stepped on it from a casual stroll and took all of those weak little creature’s gold and treasures for her ever expanding hoard.
But, for as mighty and fearsome Schoria was, there was one universal weakness nobody could escape. Not even someone like her.
Boredom.
Lots and lots of boredom.
Today had started off normally for her. She had woken up in the comfort of her cave early in the morning, ready to start the day. After taking a bath in the nearby stream that passed naturally inside of her caves and heating it up to an acceptable degree, she got out and pondered what to do with her day.
Going over to her food horde, she selected two chocolate frosted donuts filled with a fudge cream and topped with pink sprinkles, and went to the entrance of her cave to watch the sun rise as she munched on her tasty treats.
“I don’t know what it is, but lately the days have felt very…redundant,” Schoria thought to herself as she nonchalantly drew scribbles in the dirt.
A little destruction here, some mayhem there. The days have indeed become repetitive for the resident lava dragoness. There were only so many times she could do her self appointed job and be the harbinger of destruction in this puny little world. Only so many times she could roll her eyes at the pitiful screams of the pitiful humans she can only scoff at, at their inferior status of being tinier than insects to one as grand as herself, and only so many times she can go and collect more for her hoard.
“Now then, how would I go about alleviating this little predicament I have found myself in?” Schoria wondered, lazily tossing the entire second donut into her mouth and began to chew, idly appreciating its sweet flavor.
The titanic black lava dragon rested her head against her hand as she observed the surrounding landscape. Her eyes wandering around it, trying to find something of interest here to stave off the boredom. But as she casually flicked a stone and watched it skip across the river nearby, Schoria’s eyes locked onto the family of ducks swimming merrily. No worries, no responsibilities (or self imposed ones that is), and no boredom. They were just enjoying life and were in the moments.
“Wait, that’s it!” Schoria exclaimed suddenly, jumping back up, her tail swishing with excitement “A day off! That’s exactly what I need!” The huge black dragon tossed the rest of her delicious treat into her mouth and stood up with excitement, her mind set on her oh so wonderful day off
Practically prancing over to the exit of her cave, Schoria poked her head outside, breathing in deeply at the scent of the fresh morning air, suddenly filled with new vigor.
“Time for some fresh morning chaos for those tiny humans!” She thought giddily to herself. Schoria all but jumped through the entrance like a newly hatched youngling learning to fly for the first time. Her colossal paws landed on the ground with an earthshaking BOOM! sending dust and dirt everywhere and even creating cracks along the planet’s crust.
Well, first things first. As a dragon as beautiful and powerful as herself, Schoria of course needed to look the part. How else could those little humans get the full Schoria experience if she wasn’t all there?!
The area rumbled as a wicked grin spread across Schoria’s face as she watched the ground dwindle away from her as her size increased. Birds flew from the trees in fright and the animals living in the forest ran away in terror at the sight of the colossal and ever expanding black dragon of destruction dominated the landscape and their vision.
“Mmmmmmm yes,” Schoria purred, almost seductively to herself as she observed the shrunken down planet around her “This is just exactly what I needed. A nice day off from all that meaningless destruction and mayhem,” she said. The colossal dragon took a deep breath and then released it, watching with quiet amusement as her breath alone was able to blow away much of the clouds in the area.
“Now then, to my entertainment. Where is the nearest human settlement from here?” Schoria wondered, tapping her claw against her chin ideally. She suddenly perked up “Ah, it should be over there!” she said excitedly, turning towards the east “Assuming of course I haven’t destroyed this one already.” And so, she set off. Her colossal paws crunching down on the earth and leaving behind humongous craters in the ground that spanned for miles as far as the eye could see.
Well, as far as the eye of a tiny creature could see. Not to the eye of a delighted and (mostly) evil dragon of destruction who relished in each step she took.
It wasn’t long before she reached her destination. A small kingdom located a couple hundred miles due east of her cave. Really, that was simply just a light stroll for her to see her neighbors. As the giddy dragon entered the public’s view, they, much to her amusement, reacted as they always did to Schoria. Those tiny humans were running though the streets screaming in terror. The tiny, insignificant guards were shooting…something at her toes that glowed orange.
“I think those are supposed to be fire tipped arrows,” Schoria thought, raising an eyebrow down at the speck sized kingdom. She simply shrugged “Doesn’t matter. They’re far too tiny to actually do anything. I didn’t even notice they were attacking before I looked down.” Schoria exhaled lightly, causing the wind to simply blow away the remaining arrows shot at her (as well as a few buildings and wagons. But who cares about them? Certainly not her). With the kingdom defenseless, in shambles, and completely at her mercy, now it was time for her to have some fun.
“Well now, what do we have here?” She cooed, leaning her head down to the speck sized kingdom and turning her it to the side, so all that could be seen from those below were back scales and a glowing orange eye as big as the sun to them. Schoria feigned surprise as she let out a little gasp “My, my. Humans? Here? Why, how adorable!” she said, her voice oozing a sickly sweetness that dripped insincerity “But, goodness me. You’re a lot smaller than the last time I saw you. Are you getting smaller?” she asked.
The ground shook as Schoria’s laughter rang out through the air, shaking the people to the core and even causing a few of them to fall to the ground. “No wait, you haven’t gotten smaller (yet), I’ve gotten bigger!” she boasted. And as if to prove her point, the people of the kingdom saw her do just that. More screams rang out as the shadow looming above the city grew even more,
and the grin on Schoria’s face grew wider as well with delight as the panic down below her increased. She shifted her foot and set it down directly in front of the city, letting them see straight up just how tiny they were compared to her. Her toe alone towered over the surrounding mountains, with the tip of her curled claw looming above the dust sized city like a continent. It was almost inconceivable just how big the giantess was.
Schoria purred as she flexed her toes, sending more earthquakes through the ground and cracking it like malleable snow, shaking up the world for the tinies that were so far beneath her grand status. The people of the kingdom watched with fear as Schoria lifted up her mighty toe, just the singular one that loomed above the kingdom, and began tapping it against the ground. Something that held no significance to her, held such grand momentum for the tinies. The entire kingdom was literally bounced up off the ground and back into place. Much as if it was in a bouncy house as it jumped up and down with each second Schoria’s toe tapped the ground.
She watched the ensuing chaos with amusement, trying hard not to burst out laughing at the sheer helplessness the others had in the face of her power. Once she had gotten bored toying with them, she decided to move onto other games with them.
Reaching down with her gargantuan hand, the tips of her claws picked up the tallest structure located in the kingdom. The tallest structure was the entire castle, pinched between her claws as she raised it up to her eyes. Smirking, she turned it to the side and gave it a little shake, giggling as a few infinitesimal human specks fell out from the uprooted castle in her grasp, screaming in terror as they fell through the air. Feeling surprisingly merciful this time around, she held out her forearm and let the practically microscopic people land on her continental sized muscles. She gave them a powerful flex, watching the humans scurry about on their new scaly landscape as it rumbled and shifted before flicking them off like the insects they were to her, back down into the town and landing in a nearby lake, mercifully spared by the dragon of destruction.
The entire castle, on the other hand, was about to meet a different fate.
Once Schoria was positive there were no humans left in it (well, as positive as she could be at such a massive size) she turned her attention back to the kingdom by her toe “I hope you’re all paying close attention down there! Now it’s time for the fun to begin!” Schoria laughed as she began to build up her magic. Her eyes began to glow as she readied her magic power, before transfiguring the entire structure nestled between her claws into a castle shaped churro filled with chocolate.
A stunned silence filled the air in the now castleless kingdom as the subjects and royal family watched their castle get nonchalantly turned into a food item and tossed unceremoniously into the titanic dragoness’ mouth. Not really much of a snack to her considering her tastebuds alone
were bigger than the castle. But she got the reaction she wanted out of her tiny shell shocked audience.
Schoria licked her lips deviously as she eyed up the rest of the kingdom “Quite a fine morsal if I do say so myself. But I do hunger for more,” she rumbled. The citizens of the kingdom quivered as the sky was replaced with the dragon’s fiery glowing orange eye “And I know just where to get it.”
That was all the humans needed to hear before pure pandemonium broke out. They pushed and shoved each other aside as they fruitlessly tried their hardest to escape their oncoming doom. The air shook with Schoria’s evil laugh as her gargantuan hand reached down from the sky, carving a 10 mile deep circle around the kingdom’s perimeter and preventing any of the humans from escaping. And, as easily as one would pick up a coin, the entire kingdom too found itself in the evil lava dragon’s hand along with the hundreds of terrified citizens as they gazed fearfully into the orange sun in front of them that was Schoria’s eye.
Schoria held her finger above the kingdom and magic began to gather around it. She began to slowly turn buildings and structures into more candy and sweets, but doing so one at a time and slowly so she could relish in the sound of the humans panicking even more as they tried in vain to run away from their candy fate, not wanting to be turned into a dessert themselves and eaten. Eventually the rest of the population of the kingdom were forced to the edge of the chunk of land Schoria had picked up, she only had one more building left to turn, the rest of the kingdom had been turned into delicious treats for the lava dragon.
“Hmmmm…what to do with all of you?” Schoria cooed playfully, giving the kingdom a little shake in her hand. The invisible barrier she had put up allowed her to play rough with her tiny prisoners but not allow them to fall off. The panic had died down at this point, the crowd had seemingly spent off of their energy, realizing they were completely at Schoria’s mercy. But the fearful looks on all of them were still plainly present. Schoria’s toothy grin only got wider as she could smell the fear radiating off all of them.
But just as the public were sure she was going to make them meet the same fate as the castle, Schoria dispelled the barrier sealing them off from the outside. The screams renewed as they all began to fall thousands of feet through the air and back down to the surface. But right as they were about to strike the water below, a glow of magic caught all of them, letting them fall normally into the watery depts below. When they all surfaced and made it to sure, what greeted them was the black scaled face of Schoria still smirking down at them mischievously. She winked as she tossed the rest of the kingdom into her mouth, chewing on the different candies and sweets she had transformed the buildings into.
“Well, that was fun!” Schoria said happily, letting out a small burp “Oops, excuse me!” she giggled.
Not much could be said to the gobsmacked humans as they watched their entire kingdom vanish with a single gulp. The air rumbled once more as the giantess spoke.
“Well! I had a great time, didn’t all of you? I’m gonna let you all off the hook for now. Build another kingdom soon, won’t you? That way I’ll be able to play with all of you again when I get bored. Until then, ciao!” Schoria giggled.
But the humans were in for one final scare. The sky turned dark as another shadow fell over them. They looked upwards and screamed as the bottom of Schoria’s foot began to descend right where they were. But before they could even think of running, it landed with a thunderous BOOM! Before lifting up as Schoria walked away, her thunderous laughter shaking the planet. Behind her, the humans were picking themselves back up. They had been fortunate enough to end up right between her toes as she stepped down and walked away.
That single step had terraformed the area quite a bit, expanding rivers and lakes as well as completely flattening quite a few mountains in the area. Looks like they’ll have plenty to work with as they try to remake their kingdom.
And hope Schoria would be in another playful mood when she comes back for another visit.
