This story was one of my more experimental ones. I had the idea of a 'monster' who finds a depressed prey, and instead of taking advantage of the situation, cares for the prey instead, redeeming themselves in the process. When I talked to
WolfyDarkfang about it, he showed me Quibbit, and I soon made this story from it. I hope you enjoy. ^^
It was a dark and cold night in the forest. Not a bird was chirping, nor a squirrel skittering, for the forest animals, knew to hide when the sun set, for a monster ruled in the darkness, hunting his prey with a ferocious hiss as he scampered on his four legs, sniffing for a good and filling meal. Even though this predator was only two and a half feet tall, he was known to be a force to be reckoned with. Being a giant Salamander, he has been able to use his several-foot-long tongue to grab his prey and reel them right into his grey maw, including humans, which were his favorite meals to catch. Whenever he would get one, he would saunter to his home with his huge gut and relax there, enjoying the feeling as their prey, who was stuck in the fetal position in his very tight gut, slowly digested within him, enjoying the struggles for hours as his meal fed him for 2-3 days before his belly was ready for another tasty meal. It had been a month since he had such a meal, longing to feel the tremendous power of digesting such a meal again, sniffing the air in the hopes of smelling one. His eyes lit up when he did, slowly skittering towards the source of the scent, finding a lone human resting against a tree, the perfect meal right in front of him. He lay flat against the ground and slowly crawled up to the Human, seeing that the Human had nothing to defend himself, not even looking as he had his head tucked between his arms and legs. Even if the Human tried to run, his tongue would easily stop him. When he was inches from snapping his jaws on the Human's legs, he heard something strange from them. The Human was crying. He was wondering why he was sad. Usually, his meals only cried after he ate them. Usually, the humans he ate were happy, prideful, or maybe even angry beforehand, but why would a sad human go into his forest? He shouldn't be complaining, as this makes them the easiest meal he has ever gotten, but it did make him wonder. So, in an act previously unknown to the Lizard, he held his head up to the Human's face and spoke to his meal.
"Are you alright mea- er, human? You lost or something?" The Human heard the voice, looking over his arms and saw the big Lizard in front of him, their blue eyes gazing up at him with a look of concern, which was enough to get the Human to talk. "Y-Yeah, I am lost. Not like it matters anyway. The further away I am from anyone, the better." The Lizard wasn't surprised by his answer, seeing that most of the humans he eats always seemed to be alone. "Heh, makes sense. Well, don't worry. I only see a human around here every once in a while. No one will go looking for you here. I'll make sure of that." He said that genuinely, though not for the reason the Human seemed to think as his eyes lit up, though still sniffling through his words. "O-Oh really? No one will get me here?" The Lizard smiled, slowly climbing on the Human's legs, and said, "Trust me. I don't even know the way out of this forest. No one from the outside will ever reach you here." The Human chuckled and sighed as he looked to the side, not noticing as the Lizard opened his maw wide to try and devour him, saying to himself, "That is good. I've had enough people after me as it is." This made the Lizard stop in his tracks, retracting a bit as he saw the human return his gaze to him, before asking, "Wait, why are people after you? Did you do something?" The Human sighed again, feeling tired from what had happened before. "I don't know. People are trying to kidnap me left and right. Some have even expressed interest in gobbling me up. And then my friends decided that the best strategy to combat this problem required me to never leave their sight. So I ran away, going into this forest to hide so I could think alone. And hey, if what you said stays true, this forest will feel like paradise compared to the outside world and its stresses. So, thank you for being so nice to me. My name is John. Might I ask for your name?" The Lizard was taken aback by all the Human revealed to him. He didn't expect the Human's story about never having a free moment. He honestly loved his solitude, so if some people came and messed it up, he would be just as devastated. He felt conflicted now, having played with his food too much, but after a bit of thinking, he decided that, just this once, he would help the Human out. "Hello John. My name is Quibbit. And may I just say, I hope my forest is everything you hope for and more."
Quibbit led the Human through the forest, knowing of a good place for him to lay low and rest at during his stay. He couldn't believe he was leading someone here, especially one who was his favorite prey, but the giant Salamander felt generous for once, though his mind still felt conflicted. One part wanted to help, but the other part wanted to eat him like all the rest. But soon enough, he made it to his home, an abandoned log cabin, only a little worse for wear here and there, but otherwise a cozy place for him. "Here we are John. Home. You are free to stay here until you are ready to leave my forest." John looked upon the place and smiled, leaning down and hugging the surprised Lizard happily. "Oh thank you so much. Don't worry. I'll treat your place well. Even clean up the place a bit if you wish." Quibbit started to smile a bit as he saw the Human's face, attempting to softly pat his back as he was stuck in the Human's embrace, which made the Human let go so the Lizard could lead the Human in, opening the rickety door with his tail for them to enter. The interior looked decent considering how long it's been abandoned, the cabinets and fridge having since been emptied, the latter of which was without power, much like the rest of the place. He then led the Human to a room in the back, holding two beds, one still in decent shape, while the other was repurposed to have the mattress on the floor while the frame was used to block the door, likely for security purposes. "Well then, you can have the good bed. I personally like sleeping on the floor anyway. Now then, you better get some sleep. I know you humans like sleeping during the night anyway." John smiled and nodded at his new friend, but before he set himself on the bed, he gave the Salamander some caring pets and neck scritches. Quibbit was confused by it at first before starting to enjoy it, purring and leaning into the pets. He nuzzled his hand, before instinctually giving John a lick, which made an odd reaction from him, where he froze for a second and scurried off, leaving John bewildered about why he suddenly left. Meanwhile Quibbit was dealing with the hungry thoughts again, scaring him a bit as he was really starting to like John. But now, Quibbit was unsure that he would be able to hold himself back from eating him before he got the chance to leave. He had to find a way to hold himself back. He just had to.
Quibbit noticed two interesting things when he woke up for his next night hunt. One was that John had fixed up the log cabin a bit, oiling the doors, patching a few holes, and even getting the generator working again. He didn't like all the lights on in the house, but if it ensured that the Human could walk around at night without bumping or stepping on him, then he was OK with it. The second thing is that it seemed he had gone out during the day and picked a lot of berries just for him. Fortunately, there is nothing poisonous in the forest, so he happily ate them up before thanking John as he headed out for the night. The food he had already filled him out, but he knew he might as well get more food to ensure he was full for the rest of the night. Plus, considering how the taste of his friend affected him yesterday, he felt it better to stay away for now, at least until he could manage to control himself. As he walked through the forest, the Salamander used his long tongue to grab any food he could find, from fruit, berries, and even the occasional small critter he could find. Once he felt it was enough, he started to walk back, but then heard a rustling from above, looking up just in time for someone to fall down on top of him. He grunted, annoyed by this, before looking up and yelling, "Can you not do that for once?!?" A giggle was heard from the figure, before getting up and turning on their flashlight, revealing to be a male anthro fox, sporting a huge squirming gut. "Oh please. It's always fun to ponce on you. Besides, it's not like I've told anyone outside of this forest about how you do the same with your tongue, picking off prey easily like it is nothing by using your tongue to yank them into your maw." Quibbit sighed, shaking his head annoyingly at him. "Whatever. What is it you want this time? Just going to taunt me about how you always seem to have a human in your gut while I rarely get them." The Fox giggled, leaning down and booping the Salamander on the snoot. "Well, why shouldn't I? I get so many humans that I don't know what to do with them. Take the one I currently have for example. One look into my maw when I accidentally yawned in the Subway, and he begged me to devour him. Fortunately for me, I got him to agree to come here and devour him here, but considering how many I've eaten recently, I have to keep him in my belly to starve the hunger for at least a week before digesting him. Not that he minds one bit." The Fox then patted his belly before squishing it against the Lizard again, who first let out an annoyed huff before he realized something that might be of help within his words. "Wait, hang on. You can hold back your acids from digesting your prey for an entire week?" The Fox just chuckled with a smirk. "Of course. I could hold it back forever if I wanted, or at least a month considering I did that for a prey friend once. Heheh." Quibbit processed that info, and considering he wasn't able to find a solution himself, maybe this could be an unexpected way to keep his new friend safe from himself. "Um, well, can you teach me how to do this? Not that I'd need it of course. But I might as well use it to enjoy my prey for much longer." The Fox was surprised by the Lizard's sudden cooperativeness, but soon smirked, chuckling before patting him on the head. "Of course my friend. I'll teach you all I know. Just know that it will take a while, but within a few weeks, you'll have the means to have a Human filled belly 24/7 if you wish." The Fox then held his hand out to the Lizard, who looked at it curiously before gripping it, shaking it with the anthro in agreement, ready to see what this acid training will do for him.
After two and a half weeks of training, Quibbit had learned quite a lot about holding his acids back. The final part of the training had arrived, and it was to hold someone inside overnight without digesting him. The Fox advised him to wait until a random human came by and try it with them, but with how much the Salamander's desires were growing, he knew it was now or never. He went back to the cabin, seeing John through the window relaxing and watching some TV, so he went in and sat on the couch beside the Human, licking his lips with anticipation. John smiled as he saw him, patting his lap for if he wanted to sit closer. Quibbit was surprised by the offer but sheepishly accepted, lying his head on his lap like a Dog would. He didn't know how to ask what he wanted to do with him. Over the last few weeks, he had grown to care about this Human, something he didn't think was possible for him before, so he didn't want to ruin everything. So he lay there for a bit, watching TV with John, but as it cut to a commercial break, John petted his head and asked him a question that would define the night. "You alright Quibbit? Did you not find enough to eat tonight?" Quibbit sighed, shaking his head no, but secretly, he just wished he had the will to ask the question he wanted to ask him. John sighed, petting him some more to help him. "I'm sorry to hear that. Maybe later I can go out with you to try and find something more filling for ya. Maybe I could even help you find one of your favorite foods out there." Quibbit just felt more and more guilty now, not only for what he wanted to ask, but for even wanting to eat him in the first place. "W-Well, um... I already have some of my favorite food here. I-I first wanted to save it for a good day, but now, I don't know what to do with it." John looked down at him sadly, trying to give him some chin scritches, hoping to help liven his mood. "Well... I feel this would be a great time to enjoy it if anything. After all, your mood is sure to liven up after that. And, well..." The Human then went up to his ear, with a calm smile, and said. "I wouldn't mind either, as you are way kinder than the legends ever said." Quibbirt's eyes widened at his words, surprised that he found out, scurrying away from him in response, not knowing how to react. "H-How long have you known?" "Oh, I've known since day one. But with how much care you have shown me, I know you are not a monster. Or, well, at least not anymore." Quibbit frowned again, now regretting his past, finding himself slowly going up to John and hugging him, which earned him some loving pets as he held tight. "T-Thank you, John. Thank you for trusting me. Don't worry. You will be safe within me, I promise."
They talked to each other for a while, about how to best handle this experience, before moving over to the good bed, letting John lay in it with his arms at his sides as Quibbit licked his lips, more than ready to enjoy this moment with his good friend. "You ready for this John? Once I start, I doubt I'll be able to stop myself from consuming you." John blushed as he heard that, and instead of freaking out, he smiled, knowing that his friend was just warning him and didn't want to hurt him. "I'm sure Quibbit. Don't worry. As I've told you already, this isn't my first time. Just do it as we agreed, and I'm sure both of us will enjoy this." Quibbit smiled, going to the Human's head and nuzzling it softly, before moving over to his feet while licking his lips, looking at John's face with a look of concern, wordlessly asking him one last time if he wanted to back out. And when he shook his head no, Quibbit sighed before slowly opening his grey maw, his belly grumbling with hunger as he slowly slid the Human's feet into his maw, purring at his taste as he licked over him. John blushed at the feeling and enjoyed it, letting Quibbit enjoy him as he relaxed. The Lizard kept licking, before performing another swallow, sending part of John's legs into his throat, enjoying the amazing feeling as his throat stretched to accommodate his meal. So much so that he just wanted it more and more, swallowing again and again to bring more and more of him in, quickly getting to John's waist and chest as his belly started to bulge out. He then stopped himself for a second, looking down at his friend to make sure he was alright, just to see him smiling, unbothered by his quickening swallows. This made Quibbit smile, licking his head one last time before tipping his head up and performing a few last swallows, sending the rest of his friend into his hungry belly, which bulged out as the Human entered it, being in the fetal position within as it held him nice and tight. He licked his lips as he enjoyed the Human within, laying belly up on the bed as he enjoyed himself while doing his best to ensure his friend was safe within, patting his belly lovingly before Buuuuurrrrrrping loudly and proudly. "Hehe, excuse me John. Mmmmmmm. I hope you are doing alright in there. I must say, you are the best meal I've ever eaten. And hopefully will keep eating, if you want me to. Hehe." From within the belly, John was enjoying himself within, the tight grey belly walls holding him nice and tight within, enjoying himself as he relaxed, using his hands the best he could to pat the walls lovingly. "Mmmm, I'd love to Quibbit. Though be sure to let me out in the morning, alright?" Quibbit chuckled before patting and nuzzling his human-shaped bulge lovingly. "Of course John. I'll let you out whenever you want. But for now, I hope you enjoy your stay." And that the Human did, enjoying his stay within the friendly Salamander's belly, happy to be so close to his great and trustworthy friend.
When morning came, the Salamander kept his word, letting the Human out by morning, the two glad to have had the time together as they embraced. But before they could plan the next time they'd do that, they heard rustling in the bushes, the Salamander growling in response, ready to attack if necessary. But what surprised both of them was seeing an anthro wolf's head poked out, looking happy and waving at them, while an anthro HellRaptor poked out as well and smiled, both of which John immediately recognized. Wolfy smiled and immediately hugged his human friend before introducing himself to the Salamander, happy to meet the Human's new friend. Viado was also cheerful, grabbing the trio for a big hug, glad his friend had been found. They soon learned about what had happened the last few weeks, learning all about Quibbit and what he did with John, including gobbling him up in his tight belly. When Wolfy and Viado learn that the Lizard is all alone, they feel sad, especially since they came here just to take John home. So they offered to take Quibbit with them, to give him a home where he would never be alone. Quibbit was surprised by the offer, never having left the forest before, but with how much they loved John, along with the tales of what his home was like, how could he refuse. So he set off with them, leaving his house to be taken over by the anthro Fox who trained him the previous weeks, and now lives with John in the Family mansion, where he gets to enjoy things he never thought possible for him. But just because he now lived in luxury does not mean he returned to old ways. He was nice to his new friends, always treating them well, and even through their help, reformed all the people he ate before. Life was good for him, and whenever he got the chance to keep John in his belly, he felt like the luckiest Salamander alive. He was no monster anymore. He was Quibbit, the loving Salamander, and nothing was going to remove the kindness in his heart that he gained the day he found the Human who gave him the chance to earn it.
