When you move, you find the most interesting things.
This one was a canvass for a Road Artists' Convention I did in 1992. It was fun!
I drew the cats on a cheap canvass, roughly threated with a cast based paint, then painted the basic colours with acrylics.
The canvass is then spread on the sidewalk, and the final details drawn with oil based charcoals, to make the show for the walking audience :3.
This is just one of many techniques of street artists, that in Italy are called 'madonnari', since in the tradition they used to draw mostly sacred subjects.
it's been a fabulous experience, that sadly I have never repeated, but I'd really love to do again. I gathered some monies too, something like 200 euros of today, that for a student were quite useful! :D

Anche io coi pastelli ho lavorato poco, perche' sono un po' ossessivo-compulsiva e se non mi vengono i particolari sclero, infatti uso solo pastelli secchi e carta stramegaliscia. Ma qui si trattava di lavorare in un ordine di idee del tutto diverso ;)

E' una specie di contro-manifestazione che hanno fatto negli ultimi anni in risposta ad Artissima, non sono riuscito ad andarci quest'anno per cui non so quanto sia dedicata alla street art ma mi pare di capire che ci sono a disposizione un po' di spazi in San Salvario.
