What a strange thing to say. Would you like to do the same thing every day for months in a row? With nothing else, no variation.
Variety is necessary enrichment for our minds and bodies.
For instance, let's say every meal you have is mac and cheese for the next year. And everything you think about is planning to make your next meal of mac and cheese. Sure, it fills you up, but if you crave something else someone will smack the back of your hand and say, "It's more efficient to eat one thing for the rest of your life."
Variety is necessary enrichment for our minds and bodies.
For instance, let's say every meal you have is mac and cheese for the next year. And everything you think about is planning to make your next meal of mac and cheese. Sure, it fills you up, but if you crave something else someone will smack the back of your hand and say, "It's more efficient to eat one thing for the rest of your life."
To play devil's advocate, the grumpy one is legit in his concerns. Not only is it risky to take a side tour, punishments in this land do suggest to be severe to anyone who isn't of royalty / rulership. Also, anything can happen and he's only looking out for what's best. If no one took their job as seriously as he does, the group could find themselves so occupied in fun or side activities they could end up very late for the very important ceremony, which could lead to question about the queen's position. So I have to respect him for trying to be responsible regardless of his tone.
Wait a second, WAAAAAIT a second, my historian sense is tingling.
Are you telling me we have an empire where every peasant is literate, because otherwise Shen wouldn't have been able to read novels as a kid (unless he lied and actually made up a bunch of romantic stuff in Ch.1), they have printed books apparently since even villagers can afford some, but they don't know theater? Which is a natural evolution of novels?
Zum, i love your art and your comics, but i really need to see a breakdown of the Oasis Empire.
