I didn't have this sitting in my WIP's since spring last year. I definitely didn't want to finish her ref by LAST Artfight. 😩
Fr though, I've been changing her 100x since then and it just never hit me quite right. I've always avoided changing her too much, like I wanted her to stay generally the same as she's been for the last... Holyhell 21 years? (wtfwtf)
Anyway, I've decided to not keep her the same exact design since it's not grown with me anymore. I felt not a disconnect from her, but her old design. It's not so much something I'd make now a days, I guess.
My tastes have changed drastically along with my identity as a whole. While she is still very much her she at last has a new coat of paint I'm much happier with. Not something I'm worried about no one being willing to draw since she's always been so complicated. As long as I can draw her the way I envision her, I'm happy.
She went through several phases in sketch these last few months. I tried fully scaling her, giving her a reptile nose, giving her an extra pair of horns, etc. I gave her some pretty cool markings too, but she got lost to me. It was some pretty versions of her, but also it didn't vibe as her. My good friends
and
were able to give me their thoughts which helped motivate me to actually finish this.
As far as having another artist draw her for commissions, Artfight or whatever, I'm still leaving her as mostly up to the artists artistic freedom. Things like wings and her extra pair of arms are optional as usual. Her mouth is more "dinosaur" like now but people can just go feline if they want/it's easier idc. They can change up the tail to her old snake or gator tail. They don't need to draw every scale or anything goodlord. I do like seeing their interpretations of her. Sometimes I end up incorporating details others have put on her as official.
So yeah! I'm happy with her! If anyone read this dribble, thank you lol
