A Thursday Prompt story

Prompt: upright
“What the - ?” the weasel said as he steered his car into the driveway. He stared, gaping openmouthed, and almost crashed his car into the back of one of the parked vans.
His house was standing, but something was definitely missing.
The general contractor, a portly brown-furred Labrador, turned away from his conversation with the interior decorator as the weasel stamped up to him. “Oh, hi, Mr. Paulsen.”
“Don’t ‘Mr. Paulsen’ me,” the weasel growled. His shock had morphed into anger, and a small sense of relief that he’d moved out to temporary housing while the work was being done. “What the hell have you done?”
The canine glanced at the interior decorator, and the somewhat fussy part-Siamese said defensively, “Well, you know that simply ghastly pillar that was taking up space in your living room? The one that was blocking the open floor plan we agreed on?”
“Yes?”
The feline had the grace to look embarrassed. “It was holding the roof up.” The weasel covered his face with his paws and the decorator laid a paw on his shoulder. He and the contractor shared a look before the feline said, “But there is some good news.”
The weasel took his paws away and glowered. “Yes?”
The Labrador replied, “The roof – well, whoever put it up did a piss-poor job of it. That’s why the pillar was there. And we’ve found signs of rot in some of the rafters.”
“Okay.” The weasel closed his eyes, took a deep breath and exhaled before asking, “How much is this setting me back?”
Contractor and decorator shared a look. “According to the contract, Mr. Paulsen, any damage we do doesn’t cost you anything.” He looked like he’d just bitten into something awful. “We’ll put a new roof on, and the remodeling will take care of any damage.”
“Well that’s a mercy.”

Haha! This is great
I've been fortunate enough to avoid major catastrophes such as this while doing contractor work, but holy mackerel do I feel bad for the poor Labrador! That's a headache and a half to re-do a roof... especially when you have to eat the cost for the dang thing!
