Yeah, there's too much of the "Main Character Syndrome" going on these days, and too much a race to the top.
I'm not even sure if we're all cut out to be leaders, but there is an alternative out there.
I'm reminded of the concept of the Five Man Band, and how that showed how everyone can have a place to shine, have their own stories, and work with one another to be stronger than any one person can be. Here's something I've looked at that dissects the trope, and a franchise I think exemplifies how the five man band works in practice. The franchise is over 50 years old, but here's two examples that can be watched in an afternoon:
