As I see, maritime themes are still continued! I quite like the contrast between the sinking ship and its keel "rising to the sky". As if the vessel was being immortalized in some way
And well, indeed a pirate captain wouldn't rather be an honorable person, but without myths no legends and no heroes would exist either

Indeed!! I have sailed once and this love is strong within me!!
I actually wanted to finish already, but after thinking what "upright" could mean, with jIwolf7's help, I decided to make another hah.
And it's right! A ship may sink down once and forever, but its fight and stories will live.

"A pirate captain might be far from noble and upright, but the saying “the captain always goes down with his ship” is indeed upright!"
Yeah, I had the same thought about it. He is upright, but towards his crew and the ship.
And the atmosphere in this one is very pleasant. ^_^ I imagine sun on my skin and aftertaste of rum in my mouth when reading it.
Also trying to portray someone unhonorable and bad and so on as someone good and to identify with would actually be a very fitting for a Dark Goliard thing to do in my opinion, haha.

Thank you so much, Shelby!!^•^
Well, true, most pirates prefered letting the captured crew joined them instead of just killing, but they're still bandits who can barely be honorable, except very rare cases.
Ohhh, did I mention that somewhere? XD Yep, I have sailed on the fishing boat in Baltic sea, but I really don't remember mentioning it here haha

Well done! You have managed to skillfully paint us - as the readers - into this scene alongside the resolute Captain with such bittersweet beauty. For a moment, I felt as if I had collapsed on the battered deck, resigned to a watery end. So I say again, well done, indeed! 😊
Well, yes, generally hah. In their own society, they were really democratic, all for equality, just, but to all others they were a bunch of thugs.
Dunno about female pirates though. I heard that most were just wives of the pirate captains and were more like companions, but can't say if it's truth or not. Though I know 2 fully independent female pirate captains of the golden age - Grace O'Malley and Rachel Wall^•^
