Things play out very similarly in this next life, with the only difference at first being that it all happens one week earlier than in the other lives she experienced so far, meeting and becoming friends with Higeki a week earlier, getting Coeus involved a week earlier... and so Coeus ends up managing to find a cure a week earlier too. He turns it into the form of a vaccine that prevents the bad gene from ever being able to get activated and so he ends up protecting Higeki (and her family who are at risk too) from that lethal disease, so that he ends up saving Higeki's life without even knowing how much this mattered, as he doesn't know how it would have gone differently without his involvement. Dione is of course incredibly thankful for this, hugging Coeus with tears very tightly, "Thank you Coeus, thank you so much!! I knew you could do it...", while Higeki's father remarks: "It's... astonishing what you're already capable of, little Coeus. The three of us of course greatly appreciate your help in this too... I think you have a very bright future with that head of yours, heh." "Oh, don't mention it!", Coeus is humble about it though, "If I can help, then I gotta help, that just seems like the logical conclusion."
A couple of weeks later, Higeki and her parents go on a vacation to Planet Chronotytonida, making Coeus remark he always wanted to visit that planet too, but it's not time for him yet.
(Now playing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=07WUb26gmJk)
However, halfway through Higeki's vacation, Dione gets a call from the parents.
"Who's theeere?", the little moth girl wants to know, with the person on the other end of the line responding: "Hello Dione, it's me... Higeki's father. We decided we needed to call you, considering your friendship with Higeki." "Why are you calling though?", Dione wants to know, "Why isn't Higeki herself calling?" "That's the thing... Higeki is... ugh... there's really no good way of saying it... There was... an accident... Higeki got hit by a vehicle... The injuries were... lethal... Sh-She's... She's dead, Dione... I'm sorry..." "I...", the young Dione response with shock, "I... didn't even have the time to thank her for being my friend..."
Dione in the library is getting disturbed by that turn of events but gives things yet another try with yet another book containing yet another life for her to live through.
So we now see a life in which Dione meets Higeki early enough for Coeus to cure her in time, while also being a life, a universe, in which Dione's choices lead to Higeki staying on Planet Hetrocera instead of joining her parents for the vacation to Planet Chronotytonida. But this time, Higeki dies during that time from an intense allergic reaction against mangoes that she didn't know she had.
(Now playing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RI9aLNhPFrw)
"No no no...", Dione in the library is starting to get desperate, "There's an infinite amount of universes, there's gotta be one where my friendship with Higeki can last!" So the anthropmorphic Rosy Maple Moth keeps trying to find books of her lives where Higeki survives, going through several more lives like this as her desperation about it just grows more and more. There has to be a way to save Higeki's life, there has to be one!
But... eventually, Persephone stops her, telling her: "Dione... there are... some things you will not be able to change no matter what. Some things... are meant to happen a certain way. Much like every universe includes a version of Cronus... Every universe also has specific events that inevitably happen, as if destiny itself set it into place. You... won't be able to save Higeki, not in any of your own lives at least... There are universes in which she lives longer, but... none of those overlap with the lives where you meet her." "She... can't be saved?... No matter what?..." Persephone nods to that, now telling her: "Some things can't be changed, no matter how much we want to change them. So... I suggest... to live for Higeki, you know, instead of living to keep her alive, the latter of which clearly being... futile." Dione has to realize and accept now that no matter how her life would go, her anthropomorphic brick seamoth friend Higeki dies at around that time either way, it's something Dione evidently has no control over changing in any of her own lives. She learns to accept Higeki's death in every life. "You... You're right... There's no point in fighting a losing battle. But damn it, I still... I still wish I could have known her for longer than this... but alright... I'll... follow your suggestion. ... Thanks, Persephone."
(Now playing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Ghsr94g-Qw)
So Dione then tries to follow Persephone's advice of "living for Higeki", now trying out all the different occupations she may get in her life. She may not love anything more than becoming a marine biologist, but she is curious about what other options she could have experienced, what other options did alternate selves of her get to. So she then goes through various lives in which she ends up with different occupations, enjoying to spend even more with with her best friend (who she continues to have feelings for) as Coeus's assistant, experiencing the beauty of oceans differently as a sailor, helping people as a nurse after her experience with Higeki set her on that path in some of her lives, with some of her lives also causing her to become an environmental engineer (using various sciences to create solutions that will protect and also improve the health of living organisms and improve the quality of the environment) because of how nature-filled her home planet is, so she wants to help other planets achieve or keep a good relationship with their nature too, something she very gladly helps with. Of course, there's also lives of hers where she doesn't get any proper job, especially since Coeus has easily enough income from his science work that he could always financially support her too either way, in which case she spends her life with more travelling, getting to see other beautiful places of the universe. With her affinity for wearing dresses, this also makes her pursue a career as a fashion designer in some other lives, all while there are also lives where her friendship with Tethys makes Dione end up working for an orphanage too, finding joy in helping kids find a family to be part of. Sure, the latter reminds her frequently of the family she'd like to have with Coeus but she doesn't find the courage to confess and make it work with him in any of the lives that have been explored so far.
Part 4 - Teenager
(Now playing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R-jMu6pS1tU)
The magician siblings get to a location appearing like the inside of a cave made entirely out of diamonds of various colors, all glowing faintly for it to not be dark in there. "Oohhh...", Heart comments on the sight, "Pretty..." "Not as pretty as you.", Spade flirts. "Wh-What?" "Oh nothing, hehe.", Spade says. Club giggles some, stating: "You boys are silly." "In the best way possible.", Spade remarks confidently with a wink. "Stay focused, guys.", Diamond brings up, "We have something important to do after all." Ace the Meowscarada is also inside this cave though, not all that far away from them, already intending to try causing conflict between the siblings as he talks to himself: "Will the audience cheer? Will the audience tremble in fear? Or will they get frustrated? But keep in mind, how the audience reacts is always part of the meowgician's plan, hehe!", using a gas that drives Diamond's anger to the point of uncontrollable, with her indeed going from relatively calm to angry and then from angry to very aggressive within just seconds of breathing that gas. She already punches and headbutts the surrounding cave walls with Ace expecting her to hurt her siblings in the process of all this anger, all while those siblings try get Diamond to calm down. "The great meowgician Ace has struck, hehehe... Out of control and yet exactly the way I intended." But it turns out she cares so much about her brothers and her sister, that no matter how angry she gets, she can't bring herself to cause any harm to them, always managing to stop herself in time before any of her family gets injured. Soon enough, the effects of the gas wear off without this attempt of Ace working as he intended. "You've got to be kidding me!", Ace complains due to this ending up being another failed attempt from him.
