I'm late for sith day, but sue me, better late than never!
My head canon for this is that good ol Giz served faithfully in the Inquisitiorious, eventually being sent off to assist a high ranking Imperial Moff(cough cough Cougar) with particular matters of interest. He would continue to serve there with her until the destruction of the second Death Star, whereupon he would pledge himself to her Imperial remnant faction.
