Hello everyone, it's been forever since we've seen Icarus, Treya, and his wild creations.
(Some links or things I'll be talking about will be broken since this was copied over from my DA account, and I don't have time to edit all the links on my FA page.)
For those who don't know, Icarus is the offspring of Thomza and Aellea, making him "divine" royalty of the Pillars of Creation. If you want to know what he looks like without a silhouette drawing? Check that out here: Icarus Flies Again (Treya kind of stays the same, but you can also see a better image of her here: The Welder's Creation This is also where you can find more information about these characters, so I don't have to explain it in full in every post I make.)
Consider this to be an "illustration" so to speak of Icarus' army of Love-Bots and ushering a new faction and new era for these machines. Of course, all of these events happening after the Boars of War, Dark World/Cyber World Arc, and pretty far into "present" canon which will have its own arc, but to see more info about it... You can check out this post here of the "main" antagonist for Icarus, the # One Day Your Magic Will Die Out and I Will Remain
...With everything out of the way fully, now I can get into this new illustration and the new faction of Love-Bots
Unlike the Matriarch's army that's deep in Hunter's past and were mostly bugs and older post-love war remnants of Love-Bots? These machines have no connection or even relation to them. Most of these Love-Bots are newly built by Icarus or they were simply organic life forms given new life by being transformed into biological slime that will soon find a new host in metal scraps of power armor. Icarus' models are amphibious thanks to the extremely rough terrain, terrifyingly deadly oceans and rivers of Materia as these machines can both fight well on ground and deep within the water. Many of the Love-Bot "shells" are based off Imps, Dragons, Leviathans, and Kollisoids (Also known as Soft Bellied Crabs)
(Example of the demonic little imps can be found here: Species of Skin to Scales: Imps )
(And Kollisoids can be found here:Species of Skin to Scales: Kollisoids )
However, several of the shells are just modified versions of the "Slayer", "Knight", and "Wyrmling" and unlike most new-world Love-Bot factions, most of Icarus' "Armor" or "Heavy Vehicles" aren't really robots at all, and Icarus made very specific models based of the "Gearbox" model to drive them. It is to note the "Gearbox" model is not even Love-Bot tech, but is actually "Citadel", technology that was modified and taken over when Icarus' mentor (Atlas) was slain by the L.I.C.H. The only thing missing in his army is that Icarus absolutely refuses to build is any air related vehicles or machines. Stating that "I will never build an airship; a boat belongs on water." and would rather "sling" his units from these massive organic towers that observe the landscape both on ground and under the waves. Usually loading up tons of organic ooze, metal shells, and then firing the machines out like an artillery mortar shell.
The society of these Love-Bots also differ massively from Old World Love-Bots. Such as the Matriarch having a caste system, and the New-World Machines being heavy on individualism, these robots believe in collectivism. They of course still worship the pillars, but they do not build grand cities, and would instead opt for a single super structure with a massive underground network of tunnels underneath. Almost as if they were building artificial trees as they believe these towers are a show of the "Pillars Might" among the species of Materia. There is no currency, they do not believe in having even individual names and would rather go by numbers, but instead they believe that all of them are connected to a greater whole. That they are all the same machine, stretching out as their minds are connected to one another.
Awkwardly for Icarus, they all are in full belief he is the "Mother of Machines" as they see him as their creator. Icarus would rather have the term, "Father", but he can't seemingly change their minds about it. At the very least this faction is heavily favored with the Warrior of the Pillars, even if the Scalebolds (Kobolds) find them to be very off putting. They are not a hive mind, but they really want to try and act like it as Icarus finds it to be just one of the weird little quirks about them (They also tend to break character sometimes). It doesn't help that you may go to other towers and some of them have different names entirely for the faction, different personalities, but still act like they're part of a greater whole for the gods to do what they please with them, but a few things still do remain consistent...
Thank you all for reading, this was quite the long one... Have a good day everybody!
Disclaimer and Copyright: These characters involved, and the artwork belongs to me, TwistedHensley. The Skin to Scales Universe also belongs to me there, TwistedHensley... You get the drill. I want to point out that this is an Epic Dark Fantasy setting with a lot of mythological and religious tones and that there is no real-life connection to any of these events, religions, characters and it is fully, grounded, in fantasy. There is no copyright infringement also intended to other forms of media as Skin to Scales is meant to be its own thing and something I've been working on for a very long time. This is the same setting where faith is a massive part of the magic system, and it is usually meant to have a very bright and colorful art style to help balance the tone.
Other Disclaimer: You are allowed to share my artwork as long as I am credited, but do not upload it anywhere else, edit it and or mark it as your own if that wasn't common sense.
