This is my submission of AC 2011 con book.
The theme of this year is "magic", but I want to draw something special.
"Magic" is a kind of western word to Chinese, so I wanna try eastern magic thing.
Eight Trigrams and Taoist figures are some very common things to Chinese.
So I just choose Chinese dragon and draw him using these stuff doing an eastern magic ceremony.
Although I can't go AC this year, but at least I can join the con book. ^^;

The ba gua (literally "eight symbols") are eight diagrams used in Taoist cosmology to represent the fundamental principles of reality, seen as a range of eight interrelated concepts. Each consists of three lines, each line either "broken" or "unbroken," representing yin or yang, respectively. Due to their tripartite structure, they are often referred to as "trigrams" in English.
A quick overview of the symbols. THEY ARE NOT THE ACTUAL WORDS OF THE ELEMENTS. (example, actual word for fire is 火 Huǒ, not離 Lí )
乾 Qián represents Heaven/Sky (all full lines)
兌 Duì represents Lake/Marsh (Broken, full full)
離 Lí represents Fire (full, Broken, full)
震 Zhèn represents Thunder (Broken, Broken, Full)
巽 Xùn represents Wind (Full Full Broken)
坎 Kǎn represents Water (Broken, Full, Broken)
艮 Gèn represents Mountain (Full, Broken, Broken)
坤 Kūn represents Earth (All Broken)

Another interesting thing about Bagua is that there’s a style of Kung fu (Chinese Martial art) named after this. One of the most famous user is Aang the Air Avatar from “Avatar: The Last Airbender”. Remember the part in Season 1 Episode 2 when Aang walked in circles around Zuko to evade him in such tight space? That was the famous “Bagua Step”. If Aang was armed with some of the trademark Bagua weapons, Zuko would be stabbed to death many times.
