Happy Mother’s Day, everyone! The time has come once again to celebrate the women who helped make us who we are. I love my mom, she means the world to me. And I’m not the only one who loves his mom, because today, we’ve got thrasher and his mom for this year’s matriarchal celebration piece. I wanted to go with him for 2 reasons. The first being: thrasher’s connection to his family is an established part of his character. And one that I don’t feel I’ve utilized as much as I could. So what better time to do something with that? The second being: thrasher hasn’t gotten as much exposure as a character, and what I have shown… hasn’t exactly portrayed him in the best light, I feel. So I wanted to make something to show that he’s not a complete asshole. I’ll admit, the artwork on thrasher’s mom could’ve come out (way) better, but as long as the sentiment comes across. Also, just an aside, today’s my birthday. The first time Mother’s Day and my birthday have interacted in the last 28 years. Neat. And one final aside, I FINALLY FOUND MY FRIGGIN’ SKETCHBOOK! The one I’ve been using to draw all the first encounters comics. So if all goes according to plan (aaaaand I think I just jinxed myself. Fuck.) you can expect the next first encounters comic in the next week. I might even have the whole series done by the end of the month. So finally 2024 is going a little bit my way. But, all of this is getting off track. So happy Mother’s Day. And remember, as Mr. T said: respect yo mama.
